This coin was minted in Olynthos (under the Chalkidian League) in Macedon around 390 BC. It has Apollo on the obverse and a kithara on the reverse. The kithara is a larger form of lyre. The lyre generally has two or three strings, the kithara five or six.

I'm an Aussie, so not into the Super Bowl really......but love seeing Superb Owls! But I'll go for Philadelphia as the name has an Ancient Greek theme. And here's an old Athenian owl.

I'm no expert, but it seems pretty apparent it would transliterate as Kritokles. There's no 'I' between the 'T' & 'O'. However, I have the utmost respect for Nomos and their staff, so maybe they know something about this individual and how his name is pronounced. Either way, it's a magnificent specimen, one of the best of that type I've seen. You should be a proud owner. I've shown my Rhodes tetradrachm before, but here it is again. Struck just after the founding of the city of Rhodes, c. 408 - 404 BC.

I wouldn't be disappointed. May only be three coins, but they are all beautiful, particularly the portraits. I don't collect Roman, but would happily add those to my collection anyway.

On another note, even if I was fully qualified, I'm not sure I have the look. Would need a hair piece for my photo shoot for a start.

Great coins, well done on an excellent year of collecting. My favourite is the James I Unit, followed by the Kyzikos Hecte & then #13, the coin from Bactria.

Great coins and presentation. I'm always envious of how you display your coins. I think my favourite is the Trajan bronze. I like the portraits and patina. The orange gives it a nice 'earthen' look if that makes sense. All the best for a successful 2023.

Good to hear your treatment is going well. I remember on CoinTalk you weren't in the best of health. As for the coins, my favourites are 9, 4 & 1. If I had to pick one, it would be #4. If I'm not mistaken, Starr Group IIc includes the dekadrachm issue, so your tetradrachm is very desirable. I really like it. All the best for the coming year.

Excellent coins. I like the Victoria half farthing, very nice. From the Roman coins I like #5. But my favourite is the Punic tetradrachm. I just wrote in another thread I'd like to add a Carthaginian coin to my collection. Well done.

Of your latest acquisitions, (and they're all great), the Messana coin is really fantastic, but if I could add one to my collection, it would be the Punic tetradrachm. I love the large flan and toning. A Carthaginian coin is something I'm looking for. Those coins turned a great year of collecting for you into an incredible one!

Showing my lack of knowledge here, but I didn't know there were coins of Pontius Pilate. So that is my favourite, as once again I've learnt something new from reading others top 10 lists. My favourite to look at is the Probus, with the very attractive Sol reverse. $54 well spent!

I like the coins, but I like the other objects even more. Especially the papyrus, what a wonderful bit of ancient history to own. Congratulations on some great acquisitions.

# 9 is definitely my favourite, followed by #8. But #10 being a gift from your family makes that coin very special. Well done on a great first year. Hope your collection continues to grow.

Really nice coins. As I went along, I kept liking the next coin more than the previous. But if I had to narrow it down, 8, 11 & 12 would be my favourites. Would love to hold your #1, that is a hefty piece if currency!

I like #7 as it's a type I'm a bit more familiar with, but the others are really Interesting types. My favourite of the whole lot is #3, a very attractive coin. Also like coin #1 a lot. Thanks for showing.

The rhinoceros is definitely my favourite. The second she wolf coin with Tiber left would be next. And your first coin is nice too and has a great provenance. Well done.

Awesome show of coins Joe. My favourite is your gold Kyrene tetrobol. I tried bidding on one of these last year, but it went to high. Saw another in NAC last auction, but just didn't love it. Ended up purchasing an archaic hemidrachm from Nomos last major auction with a heart shaped silphium seed instead. Really wanted a coin from Kyrene in my collection. Anyway, your piece is extremely attractive and a clearly important coin. Next would be your Carthage trihemistater. I remember your previous example and loved that. This piece is just incredible. Now I think about it, maybe this is my favourite!! I'm biased towards Greek, so the Acanthus tetradrachm would be third. Though I love the Roman coins too without knowing a lot about them. Congratulations on what you've achieved this year, it's always exciting to see your list.
