akeady Posted August 17, 2022 · Supporter Share Posted August 17, 2022 (edited) Another night trapped in YouTube - the wonderful PJ Harvey... And 27 years later... I could listen to Polly singing, playing guitar or even reading poetry all day. Another thing nobody can get enough of is Cr. 408/1 denarii - they're like the 340/1s, but better 😄 Here's one from a couple of years ago - incidentally, does anyone know who Michael Kelly is or was? I know a Michael Kelly who organises coin fairs here, but I don't think it's he (though I should ask him!). The reverse needs to be re-shot with greater depth of field as it's not all in focus here - it's quite a thick little coin and probably needs an edge-on shot too. Moneyer: C. Piso L. f. JeandAcre Posted August 17, 2022 · Member Author Share Posted August 17, 2022 Thanks, @AncientOne, for the terrific John Renbourn and Bert Jansch. Here's a denaro issued by the Senate of Rome (yes, a real thing, in medieval civic government), in imitation of deniers of Provins. Demonstrating the prominence of the Champagne trade fairs, and the extent of the trade network involved. This one is likely an earlier example, c. 13th century. Sorry for the atrocious pictures; but you can easily see 'SENATVS' from 12 o'clock on the reverse. And here's some more John Renbourn, from his hippy days; a trotto and a saltarello --two medieval Italian dances. Even this early, Renbourn was known for his very creative, open guitar tunings. Guessing Jansch was on the same page, where that was concerned.
