Another night trapped in YouTube - the wonderful PJ Harvey...

And 27 years later...

I could listen to Polly singing, playing guitar or even reading poetry all day.   Another thing nobody can get enough of is Cr. 408/1 denarii - they're like the 340/1s, but better 😄

Here's one from a couple of years ago - incidentally, does anyone know who Michael Kelly is or was?   I know a Michael Kelly who organises coin fairs here, but I don't think it's he (though I should ask him!).   The reverse needs to be re-shot with greater depth of field as it's not all in focus here - it's quite a thick little coin and probably needs an edge-on shot too.

Moneyer: C. Piso L. f. Frugi
Coin: Rome Denarius
- Laureate head of Apollo right; behind, club
C•PISO•L•F•FRVG / F• - Horse galloping right, holding whip and reins
Mint: Rome (67 BC)
Wt./Size/Axis: 3.74g / 18mm / 5h

Thanks, @AncientOne, for the terrific John Renbourn and Bert Jansch.

Here's a denaro issued by the Senate of Rome (yes, a real thing, in medieval civic government), in imitation of deniers of Provins.  Demonstrating the prominence of the Champagne trade fairs, and the extent of the trade network involved.  This one is likely an earlier example, c. 13th century.  Sorry for the atrocious pictures; but you can easily see 'SENATVS' from 12 o'clock on the reverse.

image.jpeg.3cf9e0da02426c9b6842653086556b4b.jpeg

And here's some more John Renbourn, from his hippy days; a trotto and a saltarello --two medieval Italian dances.  Even this early, Renbourn was known for his very creative, open guitar tunings.  Guessing Jansch was on the same page, where that was concerned.

... anyway ... yah, I can't play your last couple of video-tunes

Hi

Sadly, my memory sucks lately (day-drinking, maybe?) ... regardless, I may have already posted this coin and/or this tune, but that's the way that I rock in my 60th year on this planet!

=> I hope the rest of you coiners are having as much fun as I am? ... you guys rock!

Cheers

Oh, and here is a fairly unknown classic from a great band in their early days ... man, I loved Aerosmith back in High School

Congratulations from me too @Roman Collector

You have the same birthday as Vicky Leandros. She turns 70. (Just read it on the news)

And an old coin. No birthday coin but a coin with a baby:
