JayAg47 Posted December 30, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 30, 2023 (edited) Well, I'd have 50,000 of a not so common provincial coin of Tiberius! (ironically making it common). Inspired from this post. Edited December 30, 2023 by JayAg47 7
sand Posted December 30, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 30, 2023 I won't show the latest coin which I purchased, because it hasn't arrived yet. However, I'll show this coin, which is the latest coin which I purchased, which has arrived. The coin is a Ukraine 10 hryven coin, which is currently worth 26 US cents. Therefore, 50,000 of them would currently be worth $13,000. I don't know, if they are legal tender, currently. I like the coin, and I like the country, and the coin seems to have some numismatic value. Long live Ukraine! Ukraine. 10 Hryven. Zinc Alloy. Minted in 2018. Maximum Diameter 30.0 mm. Weight 12.4 grams. Obverse : Eagle, Flames, 2 Swords, Country Name Above, Denomination Below. Reverse : Map Of Ukraine, Within Map "Who If Not Me", Outer Inscription "Day Of Ukrainian Volunteer". 9
lordmarcovan Posted December 30, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 30, 2023 (edited) Woohoo! I've got 50,000 octopi now! (I'll make room for 'em!) PS- after I give one to each and every one of you! I suppose the value on the one I bought just went down considerably, but oh well. It's still a nice problem to have, right? 😉 Edited December 30, 2023 by lordmarcovan 14
Ursus Posted December 30, 2023 · Supporter Share Posted December 30, 2023 (edited) The last thing I bought was a 250g pack of Panko bread crumbs this morning. I'm not certain what I would do with 12.5 tons of Panko bread crumbs. Frying a lot of stuff, I reckon... The last coin I bought is this one. I could well live with having a big chest of these! Harry G Posted December 30, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 30, 2023 (edited) Welp, I guess I would then own around 10,000,000 18th & 19th century tokens. My most recent buy was this lot of around 200 19th century tokens, along with some other miscellaneous coins. This was the only "good" photo that the auctioneer had, but I saw that there were some tokens on the top and thought I'd give it a shot. I bought it for ~£150, as I wanted to have a bunch of stuff to dig through and research. Amazingly, there were some good tokens inside, and they weren't completely worn flat! Here are the best 3: Ireland 1760 VOCE POPULI (C over O) halfpenny Edward VI 1549 shilling - the first dated English hammered silver coin 1649 Elephant "LONDON GOD PRESERVE" colonial token. This will be my first ever attempt at grading a coin! If I had 50,000 of each of these, It would almost completely crash the market for each of the tokens, and I'd probably be left with around 100 tons of the other tokens! The Voce Populi and elephant are very popular and valuable American colonial coins. Most certainly got your money just on those 2.
ambr0zie Posted December 30, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 30, 2023 I have 50000 Faustina I lifetime denarii. Including fees I paid 77 euros for it. Obviously the price will decrease if such a hoard appears on the market (the market being my drawer), but I would still obtain a nice profit.
Heliodromus Posted December 30, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 30, 2023 Let's hope I got them cheap. Just need to find 50,000 collectors who give a rat's ass that a Nicomedian coin has a Cyzicus-style bust on it. Maybe I'll have to slab them. 6 2
Parthicus Posted December 30, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 30, 2023 I just ordered these two coins (photos borrowed from seller because they haven't arrived yet): The top coin is a Parthian bronze, and a rather scarce and interesting type that I'll explain in detail once it arrives. If I had 50,000 of them, it would immediately become by far the most abundant Parthian bronze coin type. The bottom is imitative of a Sasanian drachm of Peroz, but I'm not familiar with this specific imitation, and it will be fun to research. Not sure what having 50K of them would do, maybe I could make some money by slowly releasing the hoard onto the market...
Nerosmyfavorite68 Posted December 30, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 30, 2023 I'd have 50,000 broken Neros. Are we talking before it left the dealer or after it arrived? Best case, I'd have 50,000 worn Neros. 2 1 1
panzerman Posted December 30, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 30, 2023 I would love that! This arrived yesterday from Rauch with invoice for 3800 euros. I would keep one sell the other 49999!

I too once found a 1694 London Elephant token in a bulk lot. Some Connecticut coppers, too. Good grab on the Voce Populi, too. You did well! And a 1549 shilling is wow, regardless of condition.
Sulla80 Posted December 30, 2023 · Supporter Share Posted December 30, 2023 (edited) As with the example of @Ursus, I'd have a bit too much of this to be useful - I guess I would have to start an Amazon store... Would have been more fun to have 50K of my last coin - perhaps not as easily sold...Gordian from Odessos with some combination of Zeus-Theos Megas-Darzalas-Serapis on the reverse...https://www.sullacoins.com/post/the-great-god-darzalas-serapis Edited December 30, 2023 by Sulla80
Xeno Posted December 30, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 30, 2023 (edited) Apparently I'd have 50,000 of this Geta coin with Telesphorus on the back. Not sure there's enough collectors interested in this little dude that I could sell them! At least the condition ain't bad. Geta, Hadrianopolis, Thrace. Λ CEΠT ΓETAC K, bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust right / AΔΡIANOΠOΛEITΩN, Telesphorus standing facing in hooded cloak. Parthicus Posted December 30, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 30, 2023 Thanks @Finn235 for the info (and helpful photos), looks like you are correct. Definitely an interesting piece, still pretty recognizably Sasanian design but unmistakably not an official Sasanian mint product either.
seth77 Posted December 30, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 30, 2023 (edited) 50000 lots of 7 Palaiologan trachea equals 350k ugly Byzantine cup coins (some flat tho). I would quit any and all jobs and teach my kids Sear and DOC numbers. It would make a really boring dystopian movie, most sane people would skip it after the first 10 'is he wearing divitision or chlamys is that a trifurcate sceptre or a labarum omfg is that a forked beard?!' ValiantKnight Posted December 30, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 30, 2023 50,000 coins of King of Italy/Holy Roman Emperor Berengar I from the early 900s AD. But they all are broken and glued back together but still have a chunk missing. But this ruler is very rare, so I am not really complaining. Then again, Berengar would not be so rare anymore if 50,000 suddenly popped up in my possession. The last non-coin purchase however… I’d suddenly have 50,000 memberships to my local gym.
Salomons Cat Posted December 30, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 30, 2023 Then I would have 50'000 of these here. Not bad. Might be my coin with the highest market value. But which ancient coin collector would want to have an exact copy of another coin? 🤔 6

panzerman Posted December 31, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 31, 2023 I would keep the one ex (I am not greedy) sell the rest in intervals not to deflat prices to worthless. Although/ with 250K Athenian owls never ending supply hitting auctions/ prices are still way to high. But even if you sold the balance off at $2000 per coin X 49999= ton of $$$! Enough add some really delightfull coins to ones collection. For me it would be 200 MS aurei/ my how fast you can send that! Or my fav. coin 1629 Bohemia AV 100 Dukats HRE Ferdinand III

seth77 Posted December 31, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 31, 2023 My last non-coin is a bottle of wine from California. It's no way I'd have any room to store 50k of them, I'd have to move from the house and/or pick up liver failure.
AETHER Posted January 5 · Member Share Posted January 5 Looking at the date of when this thread opened, it would be a Alexander life time hemidrachm from Arados which I haven't taken pics of yet and the dealers photos suck... I would welcome 50k because a handful of these smaller then drachm coins would be fun to hold by the hand full
