Wow 😲! What a breathtaking display of GOLD 😮. I've never seen anything like #9, the Russian ducat 🤨. #15, the "8 header" Goldgulden is magnificent 🤩. #1, the Gold Unit of James I is a museum piece 😉. John, when are going to put your collection on public display 🤔?

Many great coins - I especially liked the ram on the tuna!

I hope you add more in '23.

Thanks Aidan! I am already planning my 2023 campaign. I will cutback on sheer numbers/ go for some higher end stuff. Esp. my favorites like Aurei/ a MS-64 1857-S Double Eagle SS Central America/ Medieval coinage....

Thanks/ I am glad you like #9. I noted it right away while checking out the VIA Auction site. To my surprise the best two coins remained "unsold" First was a MS Valentinian I Solidus Treveri Mint/ starting bid 2K/ and the Tsar of Rus Dukat. I was still busy with work so only had "Coin time" after 10:00PM. Needless to say/ I snapped both up.😄 Obscure auctions have some great steals....

#1 and #9 are my favorites but I would gladly accept any of them into my collection. Fantastic year for you. That AV unit is one of my "bucket list" coins.

Chris.....I do hope that you get that "Bucketlist" AV Unite! And of course more beautifull "Wildmen" multiple Thalers/ AV Dukaten for your impressive coll.

I think you sipped the holiday drinks a bit too much!  There be some silver in that pile 😁. Just kidding, those are all fantastic pickups.  There are several that I have had an eye on for the type, especially the  Kushan and Axumite...

Thanks for compliment/ I do have quite a few Denari now. Also still have 50 or so MS Morgan/ Peace Dollars. I also love Axumite coinage/ really different. I had ZERO drinks over Christmas/ I only love my cold Coronas while working those long/ hot/ hazy Summer days pushing a lawnmower😛

Al/ thanks for your kind comments! This makes all those long hours seem worth it. Sadly in the World we live in/ public displays would be asking for it. But/ if you are ever in my neck of the woods. I love to have you over for a "private showing" and some excellent German cuisine.

Its funny/ I noted that Saxe-Alte-Weimar Goldgulden, on a German dealers list on MA-shops/ took me 2 seconds to click on the "buy" button.🤩

Wow, what an amazing group, @panzerman! It's so difficult to pick only three favorites, but I'll go with nos. 6 (the ram riding a tuna), 9 (the Russian dukat), and 15 (the 8 Saxon dukes) -- with 19 (the Kushan dinara) a close runner-up.

Thanks Donna! At our Ottawa coin club meeting/ we only have male members. We talked about the reasoning behind no lady members/ most responses/ women would never appreciate numismatics. To which I said/ you guys do not know DonnaML....top notch coin and antiquities collector/ enthusiast.

Great coins, well done on an excellent year of collecting.

My favourite is the James I Unit, followed by the Kyzikos Hecte & then #13, the coin from Bactria.

Thank you Di Nomos! Funny/ I never had that James I UNite in my thoughts at last Jan. CNG Triton event. My 6 first choices went 4-5 X estimates. With only British coinage left/ I noted that AV Unite and that highest bid up till auction was 3200US.

So when lot came up I bid 3500 and won it.....first coin of 2022.

Number 9 is so cool. I’ve never seen one like it before.

thanks. That was the first Dukat I had ever seen in auction. CNG once had a 3/4 Dukat from series in their auction. Friedberg list 10 diff. denominations from 10/ 8 Dukaten down to 1/4 Dukat/ all are super rare.  But then any 10 or 8 Dukaten coins in high quality are 6 figures. Seems the original strikes are unique or MIA. However from 1725 -1845/ the aristocrats in Czarist Russia had some rare pieces struck from  original dies at St. Petersburg Mint. The "Novodels" struck in tiny numbers would be then collected by Grand Dukes/ nobility. Most novodels are known from less then five examples today.
