Fabulous coin! I've just started to discover this field of interest (German States gold coins) and put this type of river gold ducat to wish list. Congratulations, panzerman!

My subcollection I've started this year from spring printed Roma with this 2 ducats, and found them amazing at hands:

Thanks I_v_a_n

You will really enjoy German States coinage! Germany struck 20 percent of the gold/  silver coins in existance. There is NOBODY rich enough/ not even Vladimir Putin that could own every type ever struck.

Here is a commerative Dukat (wife)

I forgot this one. Struck in 1730 for the bicentennial of the 1530 Augsburg Confession.

Germany (Nürnberg): 1730 silver Augsburg Confession medal by Daniel Dockler the Younger

Obverse: Allegorical scene of the Augsburg Confession being presented to Holy Roman Emperor Charles V.
Reverse: Eight lines of text in decorative frames. The inscription ICH REDE / VON DEINEN / ZEUGNISSEN / VOR KOENIGEN is Psalm 119:46: "I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings". The second portion, A.C. / ZWEITES GE/DÆCHTNUS / MDCCXXX roughly translates to "A.C. second remembrance [bicentennial], 1730".

I live very close to Frankfurt and my father's family originated partly from there. This stimulated my interest for coins from the city and from the surrounding areas in Nassau, Hessen and Kassel.

These coins show a view of the city as seen from the river Main from 1772 to 1853.

I love "city view" coins (and antiquarian prints), and would certainly like to have such a coin from Frankfurt some day.
