Yikes, I guess that means you earn your money!  :<}

...I really like those Brunswick horses, even on bronze issues.

Sadly, although, if you go back far enough, I collected Reformation-era stuff in a small way, it all fell victim to rent emergencies.  Thank you, it's been a couple of decades since that was an issue.

Eislebem 1616 1/2 Thaler. Somehow I overlooked this one when making up my 2022 top 10.

For the 100 year celebration of the Naumburger Convention. Martin Luther facing; the year 1616 in exergue / City view.

Grade: Pretty cabinet toning. Minor marks. aEF

Naumburg Convention was a meeting of German evangelical rulers and states, held at Naumburg On-the-Saale from January 20 to February 8, 1561, with a view to harmonizing the evangelical parties in Germany by subscribing to the Augsburg Confession of 1530. The Protestant German Church was sadly divided on dogmatic grounds; the Council of Trent was to meet again, and the desire of the princes who met at Augsburg was to give by their subscription of the Augsburg Confession, not only a uniform Confession to the Church, which might bring about the long-desired peace between the dissenting parties. These are way outside of any collecting area I've ever had, nevertheless, a coin that I've carried around from my earliest collecting as a child.

A couple of small coppers from Baden -- one from the Margraviate of Baden-Durlach in southern Baden before its 1771 absorption of Baden-Baden to the north, and one from the Grand Duchy of Baden established in 1806 -- that I picked up for a nominal sum at the HJB table at the NYINC last week. I previously had no coins at all from Baden, even though my maternal grandmother was born there and her family all lived there, in various towns and villages -- mostly in the former Baden-Durlach, except for those who lived in localities that were then owned by the Habsburgs and part of Vorderösterreich, or were part of the Grafschaft of Fürstenberg, plus some who lived across the Rhine in Alsace or Switzerland -- for at least 350 years until the events of 22 Oct. 1940.

Their condition is quite nice enough for me, as "souvenirs." Note that the actual coins are a darker brown than the photos; for whatever reason I was unable to make them look that way.

German States, Margraviate of Baden-Durlach, Karl Friedrich (Margrave of Baden-Durlach 1738-1771 [under Regency to 1745] & Margrave of unified Baden [after absorption of Baden-Baden] 1771-1803; Kurfürst of Baden 1803-1806; Grand Duke of Baden 1806-1811), CU ½ Kreuzer 1766. Obv. Crowned arms between two branches; “S” beneath / Rev. Value and date within cartouche in four lines: ½ | KREUZ | F.B.L.M. [Fürstlich Baden'sche Land-Münze] | 1766; “W” beneath cartouche. 22 mm., 3.5 g. KM 113, Wielandt 752. Purchased from Harlan J. Berk, Ltd., Chicago, IL, 12 Jan 2023 (at 2023 NYINC).*
