  1. Very Rare Mark Antony & Octavian At Ephesos Roman Silver Denarius Coin - 41BCE | eBay this looks too good to be real. What do you think?
  2. I also purchased a temple of Janus coin. I got it from a coin store on ebay for $30. It seems okay but the wear is kinda weird. I think your coin is fine it's just corroded. It's an interesting type for Nero because very few emperors closed those doors.
  3. I really like the John II electrum Byzantine cup coin. I love how elaborate Byzantine coins are and I have yet to own one haha. It's quite special in my eyes. From a historic perspective I'd vote for the Sulla.
  4. Speaking of fakes, often, good fakes can't capture the lettering or natural patina. Sometimes a coin can look too clean. When a coin has wear it still could be a fake but just a worn fake. There are those 16th century fakes but they actually have some market value and are not just cheap tourist knockoffs.
  5. These Elymais coins look fake but really good fakes. I'm actually not sure...
  6. I have the typical Vesta type but it's nice. I've read somewhere that a lot Caligula coins were destroyed because he was so hated.
  7. I bought this ebay lot in bulk for $60 total. The guy is legit but still have regrets because of how ugly the coins are. I plan to keep Augustus, Tiberius, Claudius, and Domitian for placeholders for my 12 Caesars set and to show my students and let them handle them as well, I plan to sell 5 of them. I am going to sell the Trajan, Vespasian, Julia Domna, Hadrian, and Antoninus Pius all for $59 when they come to make up the costs. I think that is more or less fair even in this condition because these are earlier roman coins not the 3rd century coins. The prices on each seem so unrealistic. Hopefully I will find a buyer and at least break even. LOT of 9ANCIENT IMPERIAL ROMAN AS COINS, All ID, 6-210 AD, NICE STARTER SET. | eBay
  8. I went to a coin show today and got these two for $10. Pretty solid deal. Had a lot of fun got to talk with collectors who have been doing this for 40+ years. I like this Marcus Aurelius dupondis because despite it being worn it has a great portrait and patina. It depicts German captives on the reverse. The other coin is a mystery I think it's Ancient Indian, it's okay, I don't like how super off center it is but it could be worth more than $5 so I bit the bullet. The guy had great prices. I even saw a nice galba denarius for $75 but I didn't want to overspend.
  9. I got this Alexander the Great silver drachm for quite cheap. It's a posthumous issue from the Lampsakos mint 336-323 bc and it's my first ancient Greek coin.
  10. Update I picked up a Vespasian denarius with pax on the reverse for $20 at a flea market with nice cabinet toning and I purchased this beautiful Titus denarius commemorating Judea's capture from fellow member @CPK Thank you for the beautiful historical piece.
  11. In Regards to Claudius, I've seen a lot of coins with his portrait varying on similar type coins from numisprados. It kind of has me a bit confused on the authenticity because the portraits on the Minerva coins especially are so varied. Honestly, which one looks like Claudius not really too many of them. No clue...
  12. My 1807 Mexican real. I can imagine this circulating in early America.
  13. 1 Sho Tibet 1928 I posted a few coins from Tibet earlier. Here the design is a little more simple, less cartoony, but no less beautiful.
  14. I enjoy this portrait of Constantine the 2nd. 3rd century coins often have similar looking portraits across the emperors but this one just stood out to me.
  15. I have the same problem I'm on the same boat $50 down the toilet because I can't get into contact with that store. I paid with credit card so now I gotta call to get a refund 😞
  16. I would probably go for the real thing or nothing. I saw this Vitellus going for really cheap but I think it's a fake.
  17. Song: I am a God by Kanye West Coin: Caligula w/Vesta Fits like a glove with self-obsessive destruction. Dark and cruel like Caligula.
  18. Introducing Caligula!! (Hopefully not Germanicus) I got this beautiful piece in a trade. Despite its surface issues it has strong details.
  19. @John Conduitt Thank you so much! It's not worth much in this grade maybe a few dollars.
  20. Hi I received this coin as a gift and it looks pretty cool any clue what it is? It's worn like pancake and I think the date says 1744 or 1704. I think it's British or Irish.
  21. My denarius has the incarnation of peace ready to punch someone in the face haha
  22. My oldest American coins are pre-federal. I have a 1773 Virginia Half Penny and a 1788 Vermont Copper. Really cool early US history. Back when Vermont was a republic separate from the states. A nice field to collect. Hoping to eventually get a NJ one as well because that's the state I'm from.
  23. Speaking of unusual composition. Here is a set of Transnistria plastic roubles issued for general circulation in 2014. Transnistria a breakaway state in Russia. Very weird set but extremely affordable.
  24. This is a barbarous radiate of Tetricus II it's quite well made besides the goofy eye and poor alignment
