  1. That's a nice portrait of Caligula. Provincial Caligulas are the way to go. they don't come on the market often, but they usually are in pretty nice shape for great prices.
  2. Queen Elizabeth I Groat 1560-1561. Never really liked collecting English hammered coins mainly because they are quite expensive, often damaged or have worn away portraits. But they are quite special when they are in decent shape and have full portraits. Idk if I should bother sending it off to grade because of the scratches.
  3. Huhh well that narrows it down to 59 results on wildwinds but can't seem to find an exact match. Could be Commodus perhaps, they do share a resemblance. Tricky but im not giving up!
  4. eh I'm not going to sell it but it's kind of fun doing the research. It's the journey lol. I still believe it is a Marcus Aurelius from Syria. In this condition though even with a full ID its worth a dollar or two.
  5. It's about 18 mm the same size as a US dime. I am unsure of the weight because I do not have a scale unfortunately 😞
  6. A nice Gordian III with Gordian III on the reverse Antoninianus. A lot of Gordian III. Has a nice tone to it and is in superb condition. I like his baby moustache. It is a later more mature portrait.
  7. Bought in a group lot. Has a colorful patina and has a bearded man most likely Marcus Aurelius on the Obverse and a goddess and some Greek goddess on the reverse. Can you help me ID it?
  8. Fantastic research thanks for saving me from buying a forgery!
  9. The song: Thrift Shop by Macklemore I thought the $5 price tag was good for this "MS 62" Arcadius. Bought it as kind of a joke piece with that label.
  10. I agree. eBay. The seller has ancients but this is the only one he has that looks fishy. His ebay name:mresantiques I didn't think it was real either but it's a surprise because his other stuff looks good.
  11. I couldn't find this one on Wildwinds. I was thinking about getting this one for my collection but I've only seen this type in gold. Is it a fake maybe?
  12. Here is mine. It has Pax but it is some sort of local imitation. He looks super rough and tough here.
  13. Update: The seller told me the coin guy that identified it used the book 1978 Coins of England and narrowed it down to that tribe But I believe it's a Vandals coin too
  14. Interesting but I hope it's from the Vandals at least because I already have a lot of Byzantine coins. If it isn't I might ask for a return it. Well it was a good risk I think.
  15. Thank you! I didn't end up buying it. I went with a safter option and it was cheaper.
  16. It's 0.8 grams and smaller than a US Penny according to the eBay listing
  17. What do you think of this coin? It looked pretty interesting despite being worn and I could not resist the $20 price tag. Here is the eBay link: Celtic Britain, Atrebates. Verica, 10-40 AD Bronze Coin | eBay I think it has Hercules on it. I got it from a fairly reliable source, and it looks authentic, however, I wanted to narrow it down to its RIC and i'm not sure its correctly identified.
  18. This is a neat Republican denarius from 55 BC featuring Cybele and the capture of Jewish King Aristobulus II by Pompey. He is kneeling by a camel holding an olive branch. This type I believe is the 1st Judea Capta coin before Vespasian. Cool coin despite being kinda low grade. I never got into Republican Denarii but this one peaked my interest.
  19. Some early 1500s-1600s Spanish copper cobs. Great colonial coinage and very unique pieces to add to any world collection
  20. Elymais coins often go pretty cheap this one with Orodes II I got for $6 and the I got the Chach principality coin with an unknown ruler for the starting bid of $3. Chach is ancient Uzbekistan. Not much demand for coins of unknown kingdoms.
  21. I got another Caracalla tetradrachm but now in much nicer shape for $47. I'll sell the other one for what I paid for and call it a free coin for myself that is if it sells. The other one below.
  22. Russian coins especially Roubles are widely counterfitted lol I didn't bother with this coin it looks to good to be real haha
  23. Do you ever get fillers for rare emperors? Sometimes they aren't significant enough to bother with a nice example. Do you feel like you wasted your money? Here is a Florian I picked up for $20. Pretty rare but ugly as sin. Post your fillers here.
