1894 10 pfennig German New Guinea AU 55 PCGS. Love this beautiful design. Early European explorers thought the bird of paradise was a phoenix because of its beauty. Early German States silver pfennig coin Regensburg I think. Late 1200s to mid 1300s. Interesting look to it. Kind of has an abstract artist's interpretation of what a priest should look like. -
Totally lost on this one I think it's either Islamic states or Mongol horde. Has an interesting spiral design.

Fantastic thank you for your help. It's an interesting reverse. An Egyptian Diety on a non provincial coin very cool.

I think this is a double denarius of Claudius II but it looks uh bit different and the reverse is interesting. Who is on the obverse and reverse?

1802 1/2 Duit Netherlands East Indies love the surfaces and simple design 1048 -1065 German Strasbourg Anonymous silver denar coins from this time period have a very distinct look. I really like the look. 1808 Double Fanam Madras Presidency India. Interesting design especially the belt buckle. 1909 1/2 Chon Korea as Japanese Protectorate. I like the phoenix design. -
I believe this is a Byzantine Trachy coin of Manuel Ist minted in the mid 1100s. Although, I could be mistaken on the emperor.

Constantine the Great (his birthday, and my new favorite coin!)
Amarmur replied to CPK's topic in Roman Empire
My favorite Constantine coin is this commemorative issued after his death 337-340. Constantine rides a quadriga to reach the hand of god to get into heaven. Such an iconic reverse and is great artistic statement.- 15 replies

I decided to get a really nice Gaul coin so I went with this Coriosoltes tribe one because the swooshes swirls and abstraction looks like a Picasso painting. I like it as a piece of abstract art. Not much is known about Gallic tribes but Romans view them as primitive and foreign similar how early European settlers viewed Native Americans. It caught my eye because it has a full horse and it's interesting and inexpensive ($50 surprisingly)

I ordered this Claudius for my birthday. I like this portrait a lot. I had a lot of trouble finding a Claudius portrait that actually looks like Claudius. I think this one is pretty nicely done. I don't mind the reverse when the obverse is this stunning. -
Diocletian and Athena on the reverse Potin. A nice coin. I like the feel and the district look of Alexandria coins. They are also good at dating their coins! Next ancient coin with Chi ro

Early US history circulated as 1 cent in the colonies. counter stamped in Guadeloupe in 1793. Great color and interesting history.- 348 replies

I got this from a friend. Pretty cool but hard to tell what it is. There's not much going on the obverse but on the reverse is a horse, I think. What tribe do you think it is?
