  1. Beautiful coin and interesting post, @John Conduitt! I’ve no Cambridge Hoard nor William C. Boyd related items but I’m always interested in the tags included with many ancient coins.
  2. Great post @Roman Collector ! Your comment is right on — I do have one of those in my collection. Sorry, I couldn't resist!
  3. That’s an excellent addition to your awesome Capta collection @David Atherton ! Here’s what I have in order of Hendin numbers. All of my Caesarea Maritima coins fall under David Hendin’s 'Judaea Capta' heading in “Guide to Biblical Coins, Sixth Edition”
  4. Welcome to the forum, @dragonwalker ! There are many experienced collectors here and it’s a great place to get some solid advice and encouragement.
  5. Many thanks, @Severus Alexander ! I’ve been looking up images of this type of coin from the Pompeian period and I see what you mean. My father would always tell me, don’t go off half-cocked, but that’s exactly what I did in this instance.
  6. I always have fun near upcoming holidays posting coins that circulated during somewhat related events in ancient times. Although the gladiators (many of them slaves) were suppressed, their effort is most certainly inspiring. This coin was likely minted around the time of the death of Crassus in 53 BC. Feel free to post your mid first century BC coins or any coins related to freedom.
  7. That’s a breathtaking denarius @savitale ! I agree with what you said about Nero being well known among non-collectors. Many folks who have no interest in history have an image in their heads of who he was. Here’s my latest (2022) Nero denarius. A Roman Emperor has to be very popular to co-star with Yosemite Sam.
  8. Thanks for another interesting Faustina post, @Roman Collector ! When I first read it I thought I might have a Faustina/Juno coin, but I checked and realized it was only in my dreams. I do have a Julia Mamaea/Juno denarius that I'm very pleased with.
  9. Thanks for your awesome post, @Prieure de Sion ! Here’s to good fortune, happiness, and health for you and all our fellow forum members ⭐ 🍀 🙏 !
  10. I felt like posting something in remembrance of D-Day. Although I’m unsure of what month it occurred I thought Vespasian’s river assault might be somewhat appropriate. Your coin images and comments are always appreciated .
  11. Thanks for your great post, @Al Kowsky ! Here’s my one and only Maximinus. I’m including my one and only Macrinus in the image because not so long ago (early last year in fact) I knew nothing about either emperor, nor could I tell you the difference between their coins. I’m still a beginner and thousand miles from being an expert but thanks to you and the folks on this forum I’m inspired to learn more.
  12. Years ago I submitted several coins to NGC for slabbing. When the group was completed and shipped back to me, two of the coins (much to my horror) had the dreaded “Smoothing” notation on the label. A third coin had a “Brushed” notation. Needless to say I was not very happy. I’ve purchased coins with ”Scratches” and “Graffiti” notations because those flaws could be ancient thus adding interest to the coin’s history.
  13. I found an interesting website that features events in ancient Rome on a daily basis. https://imperiumromanum.pl/en/that-day-in-rome/ Under May 26 the author mentions celebrations honoring mother-goddesses and symbols of fertility. Anyway, I decided to make a poster of some Roman mothers and offspring from my collection. Feel free to post your moms and kids or fertility related coins.
  14. Great coin and text, @Prieure de Sion! Tragic period. Here are my Hadrian Modii. The first is an upgrade of the second.
  15. Great post! I have no aqueduct coins but I do have a few Roman and Judaean coins featuring the lituus symbol.
  16. Very interesting coin and post, @kirispupis. This coin features Herakles who was another visitor to Troy 🏛️. Although it was years before the Trojan War.
  17. It’s always great to see a listing of reference resources, @Coinmaster. I use https://www.acsearch.info mostly.
  18. Great coin, post, and video! I acquired three of these trophy coins last year. The Hendin 6483 appears as a plate in the Fifth Edition of Hendin’s Guide to Biblical Coins.
  19. Thanks for your interesting post, @The_Collector ! Nabataean coins are fun to collect. I always enjoy the characteristic portraiture. None of these cost over thirty dollars.
  20. Amazing coin, @Orange Julius I don’t have anything comparable but when I look at your coin I can’t help but think of the paintings of Pablo Picasso 😁
  21. Welcome to the forum, @gencho kitov Your Plautilla has some remarkable coloring.
  22. Great coin and interesting post. I think Orbiana is looking rather glamorous on this one.
  23. Great coin, @Prieure de Sion! The images are very sharp.
  24. Great color @Harry G — I wouldn’t attempt to clean it. I’ve always been fond of my red bull 😁
  25. No but a 1080 wide screen format is a great idea. Initally the Judaean poster was intended to be a framed poster for my man cave.
