  1. Interesting post and great coin, @expat Here’s my Elagabalus denarius and a conceptual image of what Elagabal might have looked like.
  2. Today, November 13, or thereabouts, marks the time of year the November Ides celebration would occur. Feel free to post your Minerva, Juno, and Jupiter coins or any coin that features an image of a statue.
  3. An homage to Veteran’s Day 2023 Please post your coins featuring the same Roman Emperor on both sides of the coin — not necessarily in a battle situation although since it’s Veteran’s Day weekend, that would certainly be appropriate.
  4. Great post, @Roman Collector and great Concordia reverses. Of all the Roman deities in my collection, Concordia is the most plentiful — although I have no examples of her standing with cornucopia and patera such as yours. As far as Roman deities are concerned Concordia’s benevolence makes her one of my favorites. She’d be welcome to come knocking on my door anytime, which is not the case for all Roman deities. For example, I’d have to make a dash for the back door if Nemesis were to show up on my front steps 😱 🏃‍♂️ 😆 !
  5. The Julia Domna/Venus denarius... ...has always been a favorite of mine because it was one of the first denarii in my collection. Thanks for posting, @JayAg47!
  6. Nerva coins appear to be the least common of the Five Good Emperors. When searching VCoins, only 5 pages of Nerva related coins were displayed. This makes sense considering Nerva’s reign was only 16 months. Trajan, who ruled for 19 years, has 31 pages of related coins on the VCoins site. Antoninus Pius ruled for 23 years and has 28 pages of coins, Hadrian, who ruled for 21 years has 24 pages, and Marcus Aurelius, having ruled for 19 years has 13 pages of related coins on the VCoins site. Anyway, I feel fortunate to have my modest collection. Please post your Nerva coins and your comments.
  7. It appears as though the Saturnalia season is off to a good start. I’m still on the fence and may have to sit this one out. My wife and I are considering a move, only about 3 miles, and whatever I decide, I want to thank @Curtisimo for heading up S.S.S. 23 🎄! Here are are some of the awesome gifts I’ve received in the past.
  8. Great coin and beautiful and unusual photographs @filolif ! ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
  9. Great coin and post, @panzerman! Here is my one and only Valerian II.
  10. Great post @Ocatarinetabellatchitchix! I have a Roman Imperial denarius reverse featuring Hercules but this hemiobol is my favorite. Don’t let Herc’s angry face fool you. He prefers the square version too because it holds more cheese and pepperoni.
  11. I almost forgot about my youthful Caracalla with his “Ski-jump ” nose.
  12. Very interesting coin and great post, @Tejas! Your Gordian III has a nose like Bob Hope. It’s fun to look for celebrity lookalikes. Here is my Julia Domna mini collection. Quoting David Bowie’s “Blue Jean” lyrics, “She’s got a turned up nose.”
  13. I love your Flavians, David ! Not a Vespasian but my one and only Salus.
  14. Great graphic, @Salomons Cat! Judaea (personification) is not a goddess but I wanted to pay homage nonetheless. My first ancients (first love ) were Judaean coins in a boxed collection.
  15. I had a lot of fun creating these illustrations for my "Goddesses " collection poster. This may need some editing but here it is as of 10/2 10:45 P.M.
  16. Great question, @kirispupis but I’m not going there. Too many to mention.
  17. Thank you, @Salomons Cat ! Your inspiring words give me wings.
  18. Welcome to the forum @Brad Hayward. Great to see your coin and your post!
  19. An amazing attention to detail post, @Roman Collector I’m not sure I have her hairstyle quite right on this button illustration but hair it is ✂️.
  20. Great post, @ambr0zie! I purchased this Julia Domna denarius because I liked her portrait. I‘ve added several others to my mini-collection featuring portraits resembling real people I‘m acquainted with.
  21. Beautiful coin, @expat! The image centering is perfect on a nice wide flan. Tacitus is on my “Coins to acquire list.“
  22. Great post @maridvnvm I’ve got a Laodicea denarius of Septimius Severus. It’s one of my favorites because it was one of the first denarii I purchased when I decided to rebuild my collection after regrettably selling off most of my previous one. I refer to the image on the reverse as the “Goddess on skis.“ I always have a lot of fun making labels for the archival flips I purchased to replace the variety of old pvc flips. Your post inspires me to get to work on my Antioch, Nabataean, and Seleucid collections.
  23. Interesting post, @beluga! I purchased a Vitellius near the end of last year but I was not drawn to his image. It was the image of Vesta that caught my attention.
