  1. Here is a series of coins that I enjoy revisiting every Christmas... ...minted and circulated in roughly the same time period that we think Jesus was born give or take a year or two. Here’s a Christmas Wish for Peace and Good Health to You All.
  2. Fascinating assortment of relics, @Victrix Thank you for posting.
  3. Great question, @JayAg47 At my latest position as senior artist on staff — the personnel director would frequently ask my opinion when reviewing resumés of summer recruits. If I had seen the word “numismatics” on any of the applicant resumés, I would certainly have been impressed.
  4. Excellent acquisition, @Amarmur! Guide to Biblical Coins Fifth Edition — Hendin 1437 Guide to Biblical Coins Sixth Edition –— Hendin 6464 I purchased two Bar Kokhba Revolt period coins, middle and small, in NGC slabs a few years ago and they were rather pricey $$$ My collection needed them so I bit the bullet and bought them.
  5. Here’s my Médaille de Sainte-Hélène featuring Napoleon I. I posted this a while back on the anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo. The medal is authentic but I replaced the original shredded and faded ribbon because I was afraid that it would disintegrate. I have it stored in an archival sleeve for protection. The green ribbon striped with red is of an exact pattern as the original and manufactured by the same company that produced them in the 19th century.
  6. Interesting post, @Topcat7 Hat’s off to @ambr0zie and @maridvnvm for spotting it as a fantasy coin. I don’t know which method may have been used but there are a number of faux metal aging products available in craft stores. Here’s a similar design on an AR denarius.
  7. This is a beautiful collection @DonnaML! Thank you for posting these. I’ve always been a bit of a Francophile and Napoléon Bonaparte admirer. I’m planning on posting my *Marianne collection in the next few days. *Goddess of Liberty and symbol of the French Republic
  8. This is a great post, @Marsyas Mike ! My apologies for only now seeing it after 13 months. Militaria has always been a major fascination for me. I'm considering posting my collection of historic French military medals in the next few days. Thanks for the inspiration!
  9. Interesting post and topic @Nerosmyfavorite68 Here’s my favorite Antoninianus It’s one of the Secret Santa gifts sent to me in observance of the 2018 Saturnalia gift exchange. I think that the thin silver wash over the copper color base metal is quite unique and beautiful.
  10. That's a great looking coin, @Coinmaster ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ The portrait is so lifelike, it looks as though the emperor is preparing to address us in Latin. I’m definitely going to add one to next year’s list. Thank you for posting.
  11. The second of two annual festivals of Consualia occur on or about this day It was the custom of ancient Romans to give their equines the day off so I chose today to post my Gallienus bronze with it’s leisurely grazing horse on the reverse. Feel free to post your horses, donkeys, and mules.
  12. Great post @lordmarcovan! If it’s an ancient nick the coin could have historical significance. It may have saved someone’s life by deflecting a weapon 😉
  13. Amazing article, @Roman Collector!
  14. Interesting article, @JayAg47 Your post reminds me that I need to renew my membership to the Ancient Coin Collectors Guild — https://accguild.org
  15. Great post, @sand and awesome collection of coins for 2023. I like all of them but I’m going to have to select your superb Indo-Greek quadruple—hemi-obol as my favorite.
  16. I thought it would be fun to put together an age progression group of coins featuring this notorious emperor. The young portrait coin on the left of the group in the poster and the bearded portrait on the right were purchased in 2022. The one in the center is my most recent ancient coin purchase and likely to be my final denarius of 2023. That could change of course but for now that’s the plan. I would love to see your age progression series of coins (young, older, and oldest) — or simply younger and older images of any emperor you choose.
  17. Great post, @Ryro! Ms. Victory is looking rather formal on this coin.
  18. Amazing top 10 collection, @Nap — thank you for posting. It’s a tough choice but if I must limit my favorites to one, I’ll have to pick the Anglo-Saxon coin at the top of your post.
  19. A superb interview, @Ocatarinetabellatchitchix — I always look forward to @Al Kowsky's posts. Al, you own some of the finest coins I’ve ever seen. Many thanks for sharing your collection and your experience with us.
  20. I had a very similar experience with USPS in Maryland although not as extreme as your unfortunate situation. Mine was coming from Jerusalem, Israel — which generally takes a while to be okayed by the Israel Antiquities Authority. The delay in Israel was short compared to the delay in the USA. It was shuffled back and forth between Washington, DC and North Carolina for some unknown reason. I reported this to our local Postmaster and I had the package the next day. The coin took well over 3 months to get to me.
  21. Great interview @Ocatarinetabellatchitchix and @David Atherton ! It would come as no surprise to me if future generations were to cite the "Atherton Collection" when referencing Flavian coins. Thanks for sharing your coins and your knowledge with us, David.
  22. Excellent interview, @Ocatarinetabellatchitchix and @Ryro! @Ryro, your posts are always informative, fun to read, and your humor is priceless. You’ve acquired an impressive collection — I particularly admire your Macedonian shields!
