I have hundreds of Canadian coins of all denominations, due to my Parents and 3 sisters all living in and around Vancouver, and not one has ever toned dramatically, even though I live in a hot, humid part of the world. Spirityoda Posted June 25, 2022 · Supporter Share Posted June 25, 2022 Thank you. Well I have been collecting for almost 23 years now. I mostly buy all my toned Canadian coins off Ebay. I buy at Las Vegas coin shows too. Some do not come cheap either. There is a strong market for pretty toned Canadian coins. Many collectors hold on to the best toned coins. When they go to sell they ask high prices. Some I can afford others I can not.

UkrainiiVityaz Posted June 25, 2022 · Member Share Posted June 25, 2022 Scotland Charles II Merk 1680 A Merk in Scots vernacular is a coin worth 13/6 or 13 shillings sixpence and the term originated as mark and was used in the 16th and 17th centuries in Scotland. After the Act of Union of 1707 it was tariffed as one shilling in the new British pound revaluation. Most examples were called in from 1707-1709 melted and re-minted as sterling coinage with the "E" mintmark for Edinburgh. Whilst no coins were minted in Edinburgh after 1709 the mint existed as some overlooked aspect of the Act of Union until it was abolished in 1816.
