Helvius Pertinax Posted January 31 · Member Posted January 31 (edited) That's one of the best memes I've seen on the sub, glad it got updated! I see myself as the Niche Collector, and sometimes the Anxious (about my Bronzes having BD 😅) Looks like meme days are getting more traction finally, I really enjoyed this one Edited January 31 by Helvius Pertinax 10 3 3 Quote
CPK Posted January 31 · Supporter Posted January 31 That's hilarious @Kali! Thanks for posting. 😆 Quote
Furryfrog02 Posted February 1 · Supporter Posted February 1 I saw this as well. I am not sure where I fit though. I figured probably the Happy Newbie, even though I have been collecting for ~5 years now. I am truly excited about any new coin. Bonus points that the coin featured has a Victory reverse....which given my particular interest in her, would make me a Niche Collector? Whatever, I'm just happy to be able to collect and share the hobby with my kids and you all here 🙂 2 Quote
Orange Julius Posted February 1 · Member Posted February 1 I don’t fit into any of these buckets… if I had to make a type for myself it would be the Middle Class Magpie. “I like everything but I’m on a budget. Now look at my 15 Claudius II coins from the Milan mint 😬” 3 1 3 1 Quote
CPK Posted February 1 · Supporter Posted February 1 I can definitely identify with the dreamer. 😆 Quote
Parthicus Posted February 1 · Member Posted February 1 Guess I'm a mix of Niche Collector and Orientalist. (You mean not everyone gets excited about rare Parthian and Sasanian mintmarks?) Bonus: Here's a sneak peak at the next coin I plan to post about: 6 1 Quote
Benefactor DonnaML Posted February 1 · Benefactor Benefactor Posted February 1 (edited) I think it's hilarious -- particularly "the Hopeful" and "the Photographer"! -- but I honestly don't see myself in any of them. Really, none of them even approaches the level of deranged weirdness that I've seen some people show up to display, particularly in the Coin Talk years. Remember the "I like to brag about hiding my coin collection from my stupid wife, who'll never see a penny out of it" guy? Or the "I'm descended from Persian princes, and anyone who dares to outbid me at an auction deserves to die" guy? Edited February 1 by DonnaML 4 4 2 Quote
sand Posted February 1 · Member Posted February 1 These are funny. I would say, that all but 4 of them, can be called "newbies". The 4 exceptions : the metal detective, the birthday boy, the niche collector, and the orientalist. 1 Quote
seth77 Posted February 1 · Member Posted February 1 Someone pls help the hopeful, I'd also want to know what that "Celtic imitation" is w/o going through Dembski, Lanz Col. or C.Preda. Quote
Benefactor KenDorney Posted February 1 · Benefactor Benefactor Posted February 1 I'm not good at these, but: 3 1 Quote
maridvnvm Posted February 1 · Member Posted February 1 I am probably closest to the "Niche Collector" but I think the description is isn't quite Niche enough. so I am probably an "Extremely Niche Collector". 2 Quote

I was getting about 15 coins a month, but I guess the monkey must have caught covid, himself and died, because now I don't have the scratching anymore. I have become much more selective since 2020. Last yearm it was 7 coins total, that I acquired. Big difference. And so far, nothing has been acquired this year. 2 Quote

I will say I finally felt the relaxation after my hit the 300-350 coin mark (of decent stuff), when I couldn’t remember all the coins I owned, and just looking through the collection again would satisfy me, as I’d suddenly rediscovered a few coins I had forgotten. Quality oven quantity, but it helps to satisfy a certain number, so you can become more picky. 4 2 Quote
