Nerosmyfavorite68 Posted June 16, 2022 · Member Posted June 16, 2022 By the way the callers were talking on WFAN, I had assumed the Rangers had lost the Stanley Cup. The thread kind of took me by surprise. May your team win! 1 1 Quote

Oldhoopster Posted June 16, 2022 · Member Posted June 16, 2022 (edited) No hockey likeness, but since somebody else posted one, here's a basketball reference. Sorry for stretching the thread. Note: not my coin, but I liked the image. I think I pulled it off of CT a few years ago to show my son, so it may actually belong to someone here. Not a huge hockey fan but grew up near Pittsburgh (before they wore black and gold, and had Lemieux) and cheer for the Pens. For no apparent reason, I'm leaning towards the Avs in the cup Edited June 16, 2022 by Oldhoopster 7 Quote

This series may be shaping up to be a hockey lover's dream... This is actually a big reason why I want COL to win. Spread the wealth, I say! My childhood hockey experiences were dominated by the Islanders and then the Gretzky Oilers and while it was great to watch those teams it got a bit annoying that nobody else could get a Cup. Sure loved it when the Flames took out the Oilers in 85-86... then the Cup in 89! 🥳 Re: the Preds, I'm sure you heard this quip from our coach: I bet you're still sore from that spankin' the Avs gave you, eh? 😜 Gotta love the catfish tradition though! Back to coins, that T. Didius is a beaut, @Alegandron, and the other two are perfect for the thread as well! (Speaking of T. DIdii, surely you have one to show us, @Phil Davis? Pretty please?) Hmmm... #3 Blackhawks... Keith Magnuson?! Not exactly the first guy I think of. How about #9!! (Immortalized as Big Bobby Clobber on the Royal Canadian Air Farce!) OK, 3rd period time! Maybe we'll even get overtime if we're lucky! 😄 Thank you. 1 Quote

When I was a fan there were few barriers to protect fans and I always sat next to the ice where I could retrieve errant pucks. We kids played hockey on frozen streets wearing slick shoes (no one owned skates) and used those free pucks to advantage. Once I got a broken stick which became my prized possession This is so cool, @dougsmit!! I loved going to NHL games with my Dad, managed to snag a couple of pucks too. One of my earliest games was to see the Montreal Canadiens when they had Guy Lafleur and Steve Shutt. I have a lot of blurry photos of the backs of jerseys as they whizzed by. 😆 On 6/15/2022 at 5:03 AM, dougsmit said: When I went away to college, my mother threw out all my childish possessions. I'm glad that trend didn't last long... Just takes a couple games and you can see it even when you can't, not really. Doesn't matter, you're gonna hear it. Denver altitude: 1 mile. Tampa Bay altitude: 48 ft. Bolts players can't play at high altitude. COL can play at low, but they don't have nearly the advantage. So they both tend to win at home. Or... maybe just whoever I want to win, wins? 🙃 (Will give sportsbook advice, only charge 10% of winnings.) Avs take it in 7... or maybe 6 if they squeak one through in Florida. Anyway, cheers to the Bolts! Here's another thunderbolt in celebration! (that's one on the left, on the reverse) : Western satraps: Nahapana (c. 105-125), AR drachm. Nahapana is identified with Mambanus, king of Barygaza (Broach) in western India, mentioned in the Periplus of the Erythraean Sea, a Greek text dating to 40-70 CE (cf. Cribb, The 'Heraus' coins). 4 Quote
