Qcumbor Posted January 30, 2023 · Supporter Share Posted January 30, 2023 (edited) That Renia was on my short list but I didn't bid since I was not comfortable with its weight (at 2,80 for such an early RR denarius I thought it was way too low) and felt it might be a fourree. I asked Marie Brillant at CGB about that, to which she she answered being confident it is not a fourree. Can you tell us what your conclusion is when you have it in hand ? Whatever it is it's a nice coin Q Edited January 30, 2023 by Qcumbor 2

TuckHard Posted January 30, 2023 · Member Share Posted January 30, 2023 This was issued during the nearly decade long civil war waged by Wu Sangui and his followers, including the movement's later lead, Wu Sangui's grandson. It was eventually crushed out by the Kangxi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty after the remnants fled Mainland China for Taiwan where the Qing followed and toppled the Kingdom of Tungning. It's a messy time all around! This coin was made by Wu Sangui, one of the definitive losers of the situation.
