  1. A great year for your collection! Lovely coins!
  2. A very nice set of coins - spanning various time periods. I especially like the Hadrian and late Roman examples!
  3. Sorry about a long line of Trajans but this is my newest coin: Link: Trajan
  4. This is the perfect thread for me @ComicMan. Thank you New to collecting, I currently use the cheap PVC coin books. However, after hearing that PVC can damage ancient coins (is this true?) I am looking for a new storage system.
  5. You are absolutely right. Although ugly, this was my first ever purchase (only made about half a year ago as I am new to collecting).
  6. @Julius Germanicus Wow! they are quite some works of art. They look stunning. Thanks for sharing this with us!
  7. Here is one of my only coins with the crested helmet. Denarius of Septimius Severus Reverse is of Mars.
  8. Thank you. @Limes I might take you up on that private massage idea sometime. Thanks. @ambr0zieThank you for your advice. I will keep looking.
  9. Thank you everyone! Sadly, I was beaten to this coin but, as you have said, there are many places where a coin like this may show up. 👍 Thanks again. I hope to post again soon with a nice new Trajan denarius. In the meantime, let the research continue! 😀 HD
  10. This coin of Trajan will help to propel my '5 Good Emperors' set. I was wondering whether anyone had any similar coins to this. I started to do research, but only briefly. Does anyone have any info? Also, I would like to know if coins like this (<$200) are available often. Thank you HD Obverse: IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P. Laureate bust right, with slight drapery. Reverse: COS V P P SPQR OPTIMO PRINC. Aequitas standing left, holding scales and cornucopia. Weight: 2.89 grams. Diameter: 19.05 mm.
  11. @ambr0zie Very nice coin. I only have one coin of Elagabalus. In fact, it has the same obverse as your coin. O. Horned bust of Elagabalus R. Elagabalus, standing right, holding patera, sacrificing above lighted altar. Dia. 20mm

  13. Wow! So many more replies. Thank you. @SteppenfoolYes, indeed, that was a coin from king_radio and thank you for tracking down the coin to the very auction it was bought from. Thank you also for all the great advice. @Valentinian A very nice website. I will use it a lot. Thank you. @Harry G Thank you, also, for some great advice. As well as @Spaniard and @John Conduitt.
  14. Thank you, great advice. I think I'm in the first category, like you!
  15. I have just received this coin of the Hadrian Travel Series. I bought it from a seller who had purchased it off of Roma Numismatics. I'm really happy with it - a lovely coin. I have looked through the rest of this thread and some of the coins look absolutely stunning.
  16. Thanks again to everyone that has replied. There has been loads of great and useful information that I will soon work on. This will really advance my collection and research. It is great to hear that, so far, I have been able to create somewhat of a good place to start. Just to confirm, are there any points regarding my coins that could arise suspicion? I know it can be hard to tell just from photos but, as I have been fairly concerned about fakes, it would be great to see if there are any uncertainties. Thanks again. I have, most certainly, come to the right place.
  17. Thank you for your reply. I will look into these websites you mention. Also, I live in the UK.
