  1. My latest ancient is this JC Denarius which I got for an absolutely fair or even good price, as it's an ex-mounted coin. I love the toning and the style.
  2. Here are my snacks. I'll have to wait for the Augustus. They described it as extremely fine/mint state, so I took the risk. The Galba...what should I say..I was frustrated and that's normally the point I just close the website. I didn't and I got that one, for whatever reason. At least the price was fair.
  3. That was a nice one and on my list. But I did not bid, because I knew I wouldn't stand a chance. Glad you got it! No need for later upgrade imho.
  4. Sounds like something that costs a lot of money and for coins that are out of my reach 😛 Yeah sounds fine by now, but.. the Augustus was a bet against the picture, so I could still lose if their description wasn't accurate. And the Galba is in a shape that I normally do not collect. But the price was fair and I'm hoping for some unknown provenances. That's were I use ex-numis, they are searching for them. So overall, it was okay but I did not get my targets, which hurt.. What Nero were you bidding on, if I may ask?
  5. What is an auction rep? 😛 I got an Augustus, but lost every single Nero I was bidding on, so it was a bad day. I ended up buying a Galba sestertius I never wanted because I was so frustrated. Immediately closed the website to prevent myself from further damage 🥲
  6. I got destroyed while bidding on a RR Semis. Was bidding against a Prebid for sure and just quit the game. Now I'll wait for the Neros, but I guess that I already know the results. Insane auctions they host..
  7. But they should think about paying for good pictures. These look like scans or one of those photoboxes. I agree, Prieure, a video would solve these issues. My Augustus had an estimate of 1250€. Without knowing Kuenker a bit, I wouldn't even bid 500 for it. But it's a bet now. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't.
  8. Good to know Prieure! They seem to be quite honest about their coins, so I hope for a quality Augustus. It was kind of a bet against the picture. Could be a big mistake or a fair price, will tell you when it arrived. Yes, their fee sucks a bit. Especially at their big auctions where the room is full of rich people. You pay the Kuenkerprice and get the Kuenkerfee. But their coins are really nice and I just like to watch them. I have one more for tomorrow, but the price needs to be reasonable. @DonnaML Yes their estimates are pretty low for most of them, because the starting price shouldn't be too high. High estimate - high starting price. Never good for some bidding wars 😉
  9. Did anyone win sth at the Kuenker auctions? I won a lot (Lot 4906) that I didn't actually wanted but yeah, the description said extremely fine/mint state and it went for less than the estimate, so my finger just touched the display. But their pictures are always pretty bad, so I'll just wait until it arrives. Share your wins here, please 😉
  10. No, it waits for his flight. They sometimes take forever to just get them on a plane.
  11. There are videos on Youtube for that reason. It is very easy without tools. Knife and/or hammer are enough to free them. Tried it myself 😉
  12. There's nothing wrong with the eye. There were several issues with different styles over the year. I'd vote for the double strike, too.
  13. Nice one, and part of the beard is visible too which is always a good thing for this type.
  14. That's a beauty! And a plate coin, what else could you wish for? 😍
  15. Well.. your coins beat it by far. Amazing! The Ostia sestertius is an absolutely dream coin. And the Aureus is perfect! I love them and this is exactly what I mean. If you want to write your address and working hours here - just do it. You know..just in case someone wants to send an appreciation card.. 😉 I'm jealous, and that's well deserved. Thanks for showing them to us.
  16. Yes I suppose that there is more, but it's quite difficult to search the provenances for Nero aurei..Thank you very much Joe! Aren't there more than 2 collectors with Nero coins?😉
  17. Thank you very much, shanxi 🙂 Well..that's exactly what I wanted to see! Some varitety, because his imperial coinage is a bit..let's say..limited. I adore the portrait, especially for a provincial. Fine style!
  18. My newest acquisition is this beautiful (my opinion, ofc) Nero Aureus, 7.32g Ex Jesus Vico & Ex NAC (maybe there are other provenances, but for now it's those 2) Despite some marks on the surface I love the preservation and the nice, well centered strike. The remaining beard is a nice detail. They are not rare but always quite expensive in this condition. The picture is savage because it shows every mark. Nicer in hand (everyone says this about his coins, I guess 😛 ) It isn't my collecting area but as I got absolutely destroyed while bidding on a rare Trajan Pater aureus, I had to fill the hole in my heart. Now, show me your Nero or Jupiter coins! I'd like to see some provincials, too 😎
  19. "It can not be requested". So if you grade 10 coins, it's possible that you'll get them in different holders.
  20. I'll try today to get a Trajan. But yeah, it's already a pretty high amount so the price could explode even more today.
  21. They corrected the description, thanks to you. Sometimes it's absolutely hard to spot and they don't have the time to research all the provenances. That's why people like you are absolutely necessary and important.
  22. You can barely recognize anything, but the sharp edges of the bust. And it always makes a difference. Tooled coins are a No-Go. For me at least.
