  1. The Augustus above was sold to me, btw. I made a profit there when selling it. Take your time, watch auctions, get a feeling for the prices and then grab it. Like prieure said, it's easy to find examples like the Augustus above. Nice portrait, visible legends - for about 100 bucks. If you buy "crap" (forgive me) you won't sell it easily. Take your time and you will get an affordable, nice coin.
  2. After some discussion, they raised my limit to 10k. They said it was due to another thing that they lowered my limit and it was a bizarre coincidence. I don't believe it, but at least I could now bid on the wanted coin.
  3. I agree. Keep it. And listen to his tips. Better save some months, then buy a coin you really like.
  4. It is tooled. It's worth nothing in this condition. And a tooled coin is not cool.
  5. Nice coins, like always. Glad that you've joined numisforums, too 😉
  6. Like dwarf and Phil pointed out, this just looks like a provenance not a reference. They're not the only ones but their answer is what sucks at the end.
  7. Now that's an handsome Justin 😉 Congrats! Btw: that's a keeper 😉
  8. A typo can happen - no problem. But like you say and others mostly do - say Thank you or whatever and just correct it. This really sucked. And I don't like seeing a text with provenances where it seems that THIS was the coin they now sell. At least write "similar coins like this, sold at (...)" I mean we're not talking about a rubbed-off Trajan sestertius. We're talking about an expensive coin.
  9. https://www.romanumismatics.com/233-lot-987-anonymous-a-quartuncia?auction_id=133&view=lot_detail It was E-Sale 78 before because this was the coin I found yesterday when I searched for the provenance.
  10. I have no doubts in their coins or shipping delays.. but it was the first time I reached to a dealer via biddr and this was the answer. Normally they just correct the text, without ignoring me and setting my limit to the lowest, so I'm not able to bid on the coins I want.
  11. https://www.biddr.com/auctions/bucephalusnumismatic/browse?a=2883&l=3239132 there f.ex. They changed it, yesterday they pointed to another Roma auction (Pretty sure it was the 78 sale written before). So I went to see for how much it sold in the 2 auctions mentionned and I saw that at CNG it was another coin and the Roma provencance wasn't existing. i don't like the fact that several auction houses just mark other auctions. If buyers don't do some research, they will think that this is the coin that was sold by other auction houses. But the fact that the Roma provenance that was in the description was a completely other coin pretty much pissed me off. So I told them via biddr. Their only response was setting my limit down. But at least they corrected the description, it seems.
  12. Are there people here that ever had to do something with Bucephalus? I had a biddr account for bidding at their auctions and when I asked them why they put wrong provenances in their current auction (with examples as I was interested in an aureus), they did not answer me but just lowered my credit from 5000eur to 500. When I asked them if that was their answer to my complaint they didn't reply. Now I saw that I can't bid anymore. I'm not sure, but I don't think that's the best way to treat your customers. So..what's your experience with them?
  13. Nice to hear from your CNG wins, or should we rename the thread?😜
  14. Thank you! Yes he is, definetely. He took his time and it wasn't the last time I dealt with him. That's how you gain new clients!
  15. Due to another topic I discovered an online shop for antiquities, named "Helios". They had something that directly catched my eye - a roman Lagynos with a depiction of a young and sad (I don't know that happened to the poor guy) Bacchus on it. The price was pretty fair for this condition, they are always a bit expensive and he gave me a discount. Mr von Kiaer, who owns the shop together with his wife, was super friendly, answered all my question asap and gave me a good feeling. They don't buy from unknown sources and only artifacts from older collections that weren't recently looted from their countries. It was well secured in the package and I absolutely love it! Here it is: A red slip ware pottery lagynos jug with moulded decoration. The neck of the jug is decorated with a youthful head of Bacchus, the god of wine. The body is decorated with a hunting scene involving riders on horseback pursuing a bear, stag and hare, as well as other figures. The base of the jug is moulded with a rosette pattern. The lagynos was used to serve wine at banquets and festivities. Culture:Roman, North African Colonies, 4th Century AD Size:16 x 16.6 cms
  16. It is, yes. Your "option" is better centred and the legends are really crispy. And the toning is wonderful.
  17. Leu had one of this type in their last auction (or the one before) that went for over 1000. I'd rate it pretty much the same, with the Leu-portrait slightly better. But with the toning and the reverse, I'd go up to a bid of 1000-1200 if I'd really want it.
  18. I agree, he needs to be more specific. But I think that, for now, he doesn't know yet. A Vesta As for around 800-900eur normally is in a pretty good shape. Not the best of the best, but definetly collectable with a nice portrait. Needs a bit of time to check and watch them all, but even for less you can find pretty good ones. With his probably limited budget he won't have the big choice other than collecting the common types (except for Tiberius where it's probably better to buy sth else than the Tribute Penny)
  19. I already got a gaming account (I sometimes like to play videogames, yes) stole by cyber thieves. Since then I always use double-authentification if possible. I don't care if it's by text or call, as long as it prevents some russian, chinese or whatever hackers from stealing my money or accounts.
  20. Not exactly true. The Vesta As in acceptable condition is absolutely possible for several hundreds. But.. I don't know your car 😛
  21. I just ordered from Helios now, as you made me curious here and I went to their site. They have some cool stuff! Hope that I'm not going to be mentionned in a newspaper article soon
  22. We misunderstood each other. It's not fake, for sure. But it looks like someone tooled it and tried to hide it with the patina. That were my thoughts. I just want to you to make sure it isn't, as you could get your money back if it's the case. You know I adore your coins, but here I had to tell you my thoughts. (Only my thoughts, not saying that it is a fact, my friend)
  23. If you allow me to be honest..that coin looks odd to me. I can't even tell you why but everything, from the wear to the patina, is ringing the bells in my belly. Don't get me wrong, I'm the last that wants to say sth bad about coins. I asked a friend of mine and he says pretty much the same.
