  1. Now that is a nose! I think our boy Titus could go toe-to-toe in a pecking fight with that eagle 😂
  2. Phenomenal! Those cuts are clean 😍 Love the use of the darker wood for contrast, and those books really pair well 🙂 Jelly of that SPQR folio book especially!
  3. Excellent write up! I wish we could do away with the term Byzantine altogether. It makes the Eastern Romans feel “lesser than“, seemingly unworthy of the legacy of Rome, even though it was the West that fell nearly a millennia earlier than the East 🤨 Although, I feel complicit as even on this site the term is used for categories... 😶
  4. S is for Securitas: S is for Septimius Severus: S is for Sol: S is for Severina: S is for Solidus 🙂

  10. Outside of RIC, these style coins are some of my favorite! It’s like seeing modernism in objects a millennia+ years old. The diversity in style is incredible… 😍
  11. Oh wow that’s sad 😞 Great eye though. Looking at this listing and others… the descriptions for the coins are all so incredibly sparse. Is this normal for AC?
  12. The mosaics look so new, it’s hard to believe they’re nearly 2000 years old! Absolutely spectacular. Love the owl, he looks especially distinguished 🥰 The “brioche” pattern in the second to last image reminded me of this mosaic I saw, as it contains that same pattern:
  13. I never had thought of the coin as dark until seeing yours! So lustrous 😍 I have started re-photographing all my coins (again!) now that the iPhone 14 Pro has come in (current photo in OP is from 13 Pro). Here’s the new non-formatted images, I think a tad brighter than before:
  14. Prices seem incredibly strong thus far, imagine much buoyed by the fact the GBP has crashed to a conversion rate of only 1.10 against the dollar. Craziness!
  15. He doesn’t look a day over 2,000, don’t ya think? 😁 The man who needs no introduction, Augustus: While back in Rome earlier this year on my Honeymoon, I had the pleasure of once again visiting the House of Livia, and the House of Augustus. These houses, along with the Domus Aurea, have got to be my favorite places to visit. And of course, the ultimate pilgrimage destination for any Augustus/Roman fanboy/girl: Please join in the birthday celebrations with whatever Augustus-related content you have! 🥳
  16. Thanks Joe! Agreed with your point regarding the “tell a friend” box. As you can imagine when we first started I was unabashedly doing everything to help the forum grow. Think we’re at a point now (yay!) where I can move that field off to the right given our successful growth trajectory coming from sources outside the “tell a friend” box. As to the pinned threads, this one is more difficult given how fluid feeds work. I do agree it takes up real-estate for guests who likely want to get straight to the content. I’ll look into whether I can alter the view that non-members see to hide some of the pinned posts.
  17. I just hope they somehow incorporate “Charles the Finally” into the legend 😂
  18. Looking into this. @ambr0zie - issue should now be resolved, please let me know if you're still experiencing any issues!
  19. Honorary mention: Constans sure had some nerve forcing Victory to row his boat! Or maybe she was just tired of handing out all those wreaths 🤔😆
  20. I’ve been eyeing a few Probus coins with that obverse. Really like how different it is. Here’s some of mine, can you tell I like the consular robes? 🙂
  21. Just updated the photos to include the format/description I’ve been working on. Looks like it’s a captive, raising hands toward the emperor; I would imagine the goal was also to make the captive look like a child. The imagery the Romans conjured up sure was something!
