  1. Thank you Dante!! Glad you like it πŸ™‚ And yep, in addition to the monthly subscriptions there will be an option to pay in advance. I will update the thread once the subscription feature is up and running (takes a day or two to activate after the Invision service has been purchased, but the subscription levels are visible).
  2. Good Evening All! It's nearly midnight my time as I type this out and I can't be more excited to be creating this post. I still can't believe it's been only a little more than a week since this forum was created. After pitching the idea of a new numismatic forum on a discord chat with just a few people, I told myself I'd give it 30 days (the length of the free trial) to see if a new forum would be something anyone was even interested in. Never at the time would I have imagined that not but 9 days later I'd be upgrading the site to the real deal 🀯 I cannot express enough how much joy it's brought me these last days to see all of you coming here together and putting in your time and effort to help make this forum what it has become. As someone who started collecting coins during the pandemic, I have never had a chance to meet a single fellow coin enthusiast in person. Joining a forum was the only way I could feel a part of the community, and if someone had told me two years ago that I'd be running a numismatic forum today, I'd have thought they were crazy! But here we are, and I couldn't be happier! So without further ado, I'd like to announce officially that from here on out we will be known as NumisForums! I want to thank you all for your participation in the vote - it was extremely close! And because of that, as part of the redesign I'lll be incorporating 'The Cabinet' name into the forum. More details to come! You'll also notice a new look and feel to the website, as well as an official logo*! I've been working in the background to have this ready for the launch of the official forum name; I hope you like it as much as I do! In addition, the ability to support the forum monetarily will go live in 24-48 hours, by going to the 'Store' tab and clicking 'Subscriptions'. Additional site features will continue to be added over the coming weeks. Thank you everyone for building this forum into something amazing, especially in such a short amount of time. None of this would be possible without you, so thank you for giving me the opportunity to run such a great site! Looking forward to the future πŸ₯³ Sincerely, Res *Logo designs were created for all 4 vote options, if you're wondering how it is all being rolled out so quickly πŸ™‚
  3. Whelp! I wish I didn't learn about the auction today by reading this thread because it means I've missed it! 😭 Silver lining though, I definitely would have lost all the ones I was watching anyways πŸ˜‚ Congrats to the winners whoever you are! I've been so desirous to snag one of those Valentinian III's for a while now, the snake w. the human head motif is striking. Maybe next time…..
  4. Did a little digging and it's based off of those who most recently did something.
  5. I think the public list of members on the main page caps out at a certain number (otherwise once we get to 10,000 members the entire page would be taken up by names! πŸ˜†). My admin view is showing 171 members as of this posting!
  6. Voting is still open for the domain name if you would like to participate, in the 'Announcements' sub-forum.
  7. Welcome to the forum! πŸ™‚ That’s a real show stopper of a Verus right there 🀩
  8. Hey Ryro! Love the suggestion - once the name is settled and the full site design goes live this week, promotion of the forum can begin and this is one area that will become feasible to proceed with. My goal is for this forum to become the premier coin discussion site, as well as an aggregate site for all things numismatic like you mentioned for sites like biddr/CNG/Sixbid etc to promote on. Just from the explosive growth we’ve seen the last week while still not even having a real website name, I think it’s doable! Super excited for the future here 😁
  9. We’ve reached, and exceeded, 100 members today! Up to 105! πŸ₯³
  10. Been looking forward to the first Faustina Friday on this forum all week!! And what a marvelous coin to kick it off! I imagine if someone were to uncover the existence of the left facing peacock under the throne it will be you RC 😁 While neither left facing nor extraordinarily rare, here is my Faustina lifetime issue that does have a peacock! 🦚 AR Denarius 3.70g, 18mm. 139-141 AD. Rome mint. Draped bust right, hair waved and coiled at top of head. FAVSTINA AVGVSTA Juno standing left, holding patera and scepter, peacock at feet. IVNONI REGINAE RIC III 338; RSC II 215 FullSizeRender.MOV
  11. Know-it-all twerps be forewarned: Even if you edit a post, Phil will remember! Haha πŸ™‚ But on a more serious note, completely understand where you're coming from on the risk side of having a feature like this be in perpetuity, and will reevaluate if ever necessary!
  12. Going to feature this thread for a bit as I've had a few other people PM me on how to do this.
  13. I agree! Settings have now been updated so there is no time limit to when you can go back and edit a post.
  14. Homepage updated - please let me know if this is what y'all had in mind!
  15. Hey Doug! Welcome to the forum, really glad to have you here! Just wondering if you could expand on this point - I definitely want the rules to be as explicit as possible to ensure what happened at CT doesn't happen here!
  16. Hi everyone! Super happy to see all the positive responses here and the offers to help support the platform monetarily! Apologies for taking so long to reply, my day job (finance) has gotten pretty crazy the last few days (see: CNBC, for why, haha πŸ˜…). So right now, the reason for the domain being as it is comes from being on the 30 day initial free trial with invisionservice. After the free trial it'll go to $89/m, + the ~$10/year for the domain name. I am definitely open to any and all suggestions around the domain name! As I'm seeing how many posts are occurring in the non-ancient coin threads, it's evident to me already that the 'Ancient Coin Chat' name will need to pivot to something more inclusive! I can create an announcement post outlining a timeline for domain suggestions (say, in the next 48 hours from when the post goes live all suggestions need to be submitted within the thread). After that timeline elapses, I can then create a poll for everyone to vote for their favorite option (could keep it open longer given the 30 day free trial timeline). Thoughts?
  17. Incredible detail! So many of these ended up looking "blurry" (or at least the one's in my price range πŸ˜…), a treat to see one so pristine!
  18. I can think of no better way to start my thread posting here than with my newest addition, one that is sure to see all my money disappear very quickly! πŸ˜‚ Justinian the Great needs no introduction as likely one of the most recognizable faces in the ancient world. The man who, in conjunction with his formidable wife, pushed back against the tide of history to try and reclaim Rome's place as the supreme power in the Western World. If only his success was longer lived... but, on to the coin! Justinian I. 527-565. AV Solidus. (20mm, 4.45g). Constantinople mint. 4th officina. Struck 545-565. D N IVSTINI ANVS PP AVG, helmeted and cuirassed bust facing, holding globus cruciger in right hand and shield decorated with soldier on horseback motif in left / VICTORI A AVGGG, Angel standing facing, holding globus cruciger in left hand and long staff terminating in staurogram in right; star to right; Ξ” CONOB. SB 140. IMG_4175.mov This one was extra fun as the auction house I acquired it from did not choose an officina, I presume because the letter is slightly "smudged" on the reverse. After a lot of staring I am pretty confident it is the delta symbol and thus officina 4 (may be easier to see in the video vs. the photo) but curious to get other opinions! Let's see those solidi, Justinians, or any other coins you think are relevant!
  19. Hi everyone! Thanks for the recommendation - I have created a 'Non-Western' forum and moved this thread to it! Also happy to hear any ideas for a forum icon πŸ™‚
  20. Settings have now been updated, unlimited likes for all!! Thanks for catching this Phil and @Spaniard πŸ™‚
