I always thought I would have made a great Canadian, but fate deposited me a few hundred miles too short.

I've visited Canada many times (Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Toronto, Ottawa) and I always miss it when I leave.

I also love Canadian money, but these appear to be my only readily available photographed Canadian coins:

I'll throw in a banknote as a consolation:

Canada Day!!!  Yay!!  🇨🇦  Go CANADA!

image.jpeg.82bd2b5250a990ca86233b0138dfb8a9.jpeg

But Canadian coins?  Well @Steve... I hate to say it, but... meh. 😐  Although I do remember having fun as a kid looking for those 1973 large bust quarters... never found one!  I did buy one later for nostalgic reasons, which I still have; I also have my binder full of cents plus a long series of specimen sets.

BY FAR my favourite Canadian coin that was in my collection:

image.jpeg.73630c074fa2b10e9d42545f5bfbb7e0.jpeg

Because I bought it for 25 bucks and sold it for what you see... coin cash for ancients!! 👍👍  Definitely my best deal ever on a coin.  I bought it to fill a space in my old large cents book (the wide 9/8) and it turned out to be a very rare catalogue variety where the obverse and reverse are inverted compared to normal.

So yeah:

I must confess it was a total accident... just lucked out!  Frank Robinson sold it to me from his world coin list and was great about it when I told him (as he would be, of course!)

Happy Canada Day!  (Or as we say down here in the States, "Not quite the Fourth of July".)  I don't have very many Canadian coins, unfortunately, but please enjoy this Prince Edward Island cent:

Happy Canada Day to all my brothers from a northern mother, eh!

Here is a medal commemorating the Royal visit 1939. I like it because it has a map of Canada and shows the route they took.

My first gold happened to be Canadian as well. Also happened to be my birth year. Man, Canada is pretty awesome, eh?
