Severus Alexander Posted July 2, 2022 · Supporter Share Posted July 2, 2022 So @Spirityoda, do modern collectors generally like rainbow toning like that? I should have more respect... there's a way to make moderns cool again! 😄 @Furryfrog02: I hereby declare you an honourary hoser! Good, eh? 🇨🇦 Now take off! 😜 I do remember really liking my 1858 20 cents, especially the portrait: Mine was better than the first with similar toning but not as high grade as the second. Sweet coin, anyway! Happy Canada Day everyone, especially to @Steve!
Spirityoda Posted July 2, 2022 · Supporter Share Posted July 2, 2022 @Severus Alexander. Beautiful toning is subjective. I personally really like rainbow toning. I have only 4 rainbow toned Canadian coins. There are many different colors of toning. Rainbow toning is hard to find because most of the owners want to keep them in their collections. I have been in the process of completing my Canadian caribou toned quarter set from 1937-1968 as well as my Canadian toned 50 cents collection 1937-1968. Money willing I am always looking for upgrades in color toning. 1
Spirityoda Posted July 2, 2022 · Supporter Share Posted July 2, 2022 Here is a very intense rainbow cent on both sides... Here is a link to half of my coin collection. There you can see my Canadian toned collections so far. Benefactor Steve Posted July 2, 2022 · Benefactor Author Benefactor Share Posted July 2, 2022 (edited) Nice coins, Spirityoda ... thanks for sharing (very cool toning) Oh, and "Hi" Sev-Alex (I hope your Canada Day was a winna-winna) Ummm, I have every Canadian quarter and every Newfie & Maritimes quarter in my modern collection, but I never specifically aimed at rainbow toned examples (I merely snagged as high a grade as I could afford ... if they were toned, then that was just part of the game) Oh, and I also have a 50 cent piece collection from 1937 => 1965 ... but again, I never aimed at rainbow toning Lately, my moderns merely sit in a cool Barrister Bookcase, which is pretty cool in its own right (I haven't added any new modern coins during the past decade ... the past decade was all associated with collecting my sweet ol' ex-ancient coins ... sigh) Edited July 2, 2022 by Steve 5
