While I do this, let’s play a little game; show me some of your babies…by colors ! Let’s start with GREEN. ambr0zie Posted October 4 · Member Share Posted October 4 (edited) In my first days of collecting I was afraid that any green indicates bronze disease. (this one is very dark green) Edited October 4 by ambr0zie 12
Di Nomos Posted October 4 · Member Share Posted October 4 (edited) Some very attractive shades of green on display! I posted this coin in another thread just yesterday. My only bronze coin. Edited October 4 by Di Nomos
Roman Collector Posted October 4 · Patron Share Posted October 4 I love a bottle-green patina. Here are a couple of my favorites. And here's one that's a lighter, brighter green. 11

thenickelguy Posted October 4 · Member Share Posted October 4 Lots of neat coins but ambr0zie posted the turtle and crab which would be high on my want list. I don't think they are easy to find and pay for or I'd have one.

Nerosmyfavorite68 Posted October 5 · Member Share Posted October 5 I love the idea of this thread! Here's a select few from my photographed green coins. Many of these were selected to join my collection because of the respective patinas.

But when seeing your reply I thought somebody posted a turtle and knowing this is not very common I scrolled through as I wanted to see it. Then I noticed in fact it was me 😐 I have just 1 turtle, on a silver fraction, irrelevant for this thread. Did you mean this coin or what? this is a Sphinx from Gergis. 11 mm, 1,28 g. Troas, Gergis. Æ. Circa 350-300 BC. Head of Sibyl Herophile facing slightly r., wearing laurel wreath and necklace / ΓEP, Sphinx seated right, grain ear in exergue. Prieure de Sion Posted October 5 · Member Share Posted October 5 This beautiful pupienus is still missing! It was stolen in transit (UPS)! The package was cut open and the coin stolen. If someone discovers this coin - I offer a reward. But the beautiful Pupienus fits wonderfully into the collection of green coins here. Marcus Clodius Pupienus Maximus; Sestertius of the Roman Imperial Period 238 AD; Material: Silver; Diameter: 29/31mm; Weight: 19.68g; Mint: Rome; Reference: RIC IV Pupienus 20; Provenance: Ex Dr. Gernot Heinrich Collection, Ex Adrian Lang Collection, Ex Leu Numismatic Winterthur; Obverse: Bust of Pupienus, laureate, draped, cuirassed, right. The inscription reads: IMP CAES M CLOD PVPIENVS AVG for Imperator Caesar Marcus Clodius Pupienus Augustus; Reverse: Concordia, draped, seated left, holding patera in extended right hand and cornucopiae in left hand. The inscription reads: CONCORDIA AVGG S C for Concordia Duorum Augustorum, Senatus Consultum (Harmony of the two emperors, decree of the senate). 5

That's the one that caught my eye and I should respond with a copy I made since I don't know what it actually is.
ambr0zie Posted October 5 · Member Share Posted October 5 (edited) 11 minutes ago, thenickelguy said: a copy I made since I don't know what it actually is. Ah, that is not a turtle. It is just an altar. I did not provide the descriptions for the coins because the post was already long. 13 mm, 2,4 g. Cilicia, Mopsus. Pseudo-autonomous. Time of Antonines 138-193. ΜΟΨƐ, crab surmounted by star (Zodiac sign of Cancer) / Ɛ[Τ?] ΛϹ, altar on stand. RPC IV.3, 17186 (temporary). Not the most interesting design, but not a common coin - 3 examples in RPC, one of them being mine. Edited October 5 by ambr0zie
