  1. Marcus Arrius Secundus, denarius, 41 BC Not in hand yet, so this is Kunker’s photo. I was pretty proud of myself as this is coin #100 in my Imperatorial collection and then I read about @akeady’s collection of over 2000 coins! I’m not worthy! This coin is the final piece of an interesting “triumvirate” of Imperatorial coins - note the portrait’s strong resemblance to Octavian. At the same time, two other moneyers, L Servius Rufus and Numonius Vaala, struck coins that bear striking resemblances to Brutus and the late Julius Caesar. These coins have been the subject of much speculation - was it just coincidence or were these moneyers subtly signaling their allegiances during these unsettled times?
  2. Numonius Vaala, 41 BC NEXT: A shield that’s not round
  3. If one wished to be ostentatious, one could always choose an elephant for headgear!
  4. How about some Imperatorial Apollos? 1 - L Valerius Acisculus, 45 BC 2 - Sicinius and Coponius, 48 BC 3 - P Clodius, 42 BC 4 - Brutus, 42 BC
  5. Here is a coin I just bought from CNG. This photo is from their website as I have not had a chance to photograph it yet. This appears to be the only Roman coin that features a solely Egyptian deity. Sekhmet is shown holding an ankh. Q Caecilius Metellus Scipio and P Licinius Crassus Junianus, denarius, 47-46 BC.
  6. Here she is in 32 BC with Antony. Doesn’t look a bit like Elizabeth Taylor!
  7. And here’s mine, the more common vertical version (I didn’t even know there was another type). Obviously I don’t have the patience of @Phil Davis in finding those perfectly centered, full flan examples! Kudos!
  8. Here’s my example. I’ve always admired the portrait on this one.
  9. @CPK - I don’t know if this is Panzerman - quality, but here’s your lifetime silver and posthumous gold:
  10. Brutus aureus, 43-42 BC NEXT: more trophies
  11. Cassius, 42 BC NEXT : more Cassius
  12. Brutus, 43 BC, lyre L Hostilius Saserna, 48 BC, carnyx
  13. Vibius Varus, 42 BC NEXT - more toning
  14. Lentulus and Marcellus, 49 BC NEXT - Gorgon
  15. With Julius Caesar NEXT - Let’s go to Julius (p.s. - I’m out, I’m supposed to be working!)
  16. OK, 29-27 BC Keep it going!!!
  17. 30-29 BC NEXT - more Octavian
  18. I've always enjoyed Aaron's podcasts and I look forward to the new episodes. My collecting range is very narrow, but I appreciate his educational segments about other periods. The auction insights are interesting and he does a good job of not just focusing on the highlight coins. And yes, it's always fun to see the "doofus" purchases (I just hope it's never me).
  19. @Kaleun96 mentioned Ostia. I heartily agree - it's spectacular! Truly my favorite site in Italy.
  20. Hmm - I think I recognize the coin in the article -
  21. Undoubtedly it will be Sponsianus!
  22. Well, this thread has me concerned about my treasured hoard. This is supposed to be my retirement plan!
  23. Lots of interesting reverses in this period: Dioscuri Victory Hercules Parthian horse Trophy @Limes said it was OK for me to show this again. By far, my all-time favorite reverse!
