Nice coin! I do like Italian/Papal States coin, but rarely find them that old. Here's a jubilee year Quattrino. I think it's Gubbio 1750.

I've got a few. I'm working on a type set of the Canadian provincials, but the Newfoundland gold two dollars and one of the New Brunswick half cent will be a bit more of a challenge.

One of my largest coppers: Honduras, 1862, 8 pesos (Provisional Coinage), 39 mm And some Swedish copper plate money: 4 Daler, 1756 (1930 g even after much corrosion from salt water)

Got 15 very worn coppers for $15 at a local coin shop. Most look like Italian States around 1600s. This one has me stumped. It's 28 mm, 11.4 g, looks to be copper. Obverse has an unrecognizable portrait. Reverse has "PVBLIC COMMO DITAS" in some sort of wreath. It's very similar to this Filippo IV 3 Tornesi (33 mm) but a bit too small and the inscription has different line breaks. Several other coins from Naples & Sicily have similar inscriptions, but I haven't been able to find an exact match. It's about the size of a 1 Grano coin. Any suggestions? I know these older Italian States coins can have a lot of a varieties, but it always bugs me to have to give up and assume it's a version not listed in Krause. Thanks for any help and comments.

I have quite a few Italian states coppers, mostly in low grades. Here are some from Milan, mostly Filippo III, 1600s. And here are some nice big Kingdom of Naples coppers from around the Napoleonic Era.

Got this recently as part of a mixed lot from a local coin shop. It was misidentified as a 1 jiao by the dealer, which I didn't realize until I had it at home. Apparently, the 2 jiao can go for significantly more than I paid for it, if authentic, but there are numerous fakes out there. If any of you are familiar with Republic of China coins, I have a couple questions: 1) Does it appear likely to be authentic? 2) If not a fake, approximately what grade might it be? My old Krause guide (1990s) doesn't seem to show the 2 jiao as much more expensive than the 1 jiao, but apparently the current market thinks differently. Since I'm terrible at estimating coin grades, I have no idea if it would be worth getting authenticated. Thanks for any help, comments, or advice!

Chile 1812 2 Reales Guatemala 8 Reales Cob 1739, holed I have a soft spot for "problem" coins. Holed, chop marks, ex-jewelry etc. But there's a lot of interesting stuff out there.

This is a very broad topic! Here are a couple: Spain, 2 Reales, Seville, 1737 (25 mm) It should be 27 mm, and I believe the edge was clipped long ago. Spain, 1497-1566, Cuenca, 1 Blanca Carlos III, Pretender, Spain, 2 Reales, 1711 Spain, Joseph Napoleon, 4 Reales, 1812 Spain, 1868, 2½ centimos, Isabel II edit: I had "2.5 centimos" in the file name, and the image uploader doesn't seem to like dots in filenames. Fixed?

Does Salzburg count as German Sates? Austria seems OK to include... I also really like Bohemia coinage, which was still part of the Holy Roman Empire. This is one of my favorite German States coins: Osnabrück 1625 9 Pfennig Somewhat related: City of Wiedenbrück, 1692 3 Pfennig, wheel countermark I really like German States minors, even if they are in worn condition. When I'm lucky I can get them for cheap, so I have dozens. Nothing like finding a billon coin in a junk bin!!

Picked these out from a bag the shop owner hadn't put out for perusal yet. Hit rate is always much better with a fresh bag of foreign coins. Some of the Brazil ones are new types for me, such as the 1937 1000 Réis. I'm very gradually working on a 20th Century Brazil base metal type set, at least for whatever I can find for cheap. It's a considerable task...
