expat Posted August 16 · Supporter Share Posted August 16 (edited) Until this morning I didn´t have a denarius of AP, only AS and dupondii. Well now they have a "tray mate" with a great profile. Antoninus Pius AR denarius, Rome, AD 152-153. 18 mm, 3.35 g. ANTONINVS AVG PIVS PP TR P XVI, laureate head right. / COS IIII, Annona standing left, holding corn-ears in left hand and resting right hand on modius set on prow to right. RIC 221; RSC 290; BMCRE 520. Edited August 16 by expat changed date, mistake in dealer attribution. TR P XVI, COS IIII are 152-153 CE 19 1

Benefactor LONGINUS Posted August 16 · Benefactor Benefactor Share Posted August 16 (edited) That’s a great looking Antoninus Pius, @expat! When I purchased these, I was planning to build some 5 Good Emperor collections in various denominations. I’ve completed an AR denarii set, an Antioch Æ set, and I have a Sestertii group in progress. Benefactor DonnaML Posted August 17 · Benefactor Benefactor Share Posted August 17 (edited) Very nice! Here's an Antoninus Pius COS IIII with Annona; I didn't post it in the "reverses" thread. Antoninus Pius AR Denarius, 149 AD. Obv. Laureate head right, ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P XII / Rev. Annona standing left holding corn ears over modius left and anchor right, COS IIII. RIC III 175, RSC II 284, BMCRE 657. 19.5 mm., 3.24 g. It's not quite the same type as the lovely examples posted by @expat and @Roman Collector: it's TRP XII rather than TRP XVI.
