    Nice to see you here @Alwin.. Great looking coin and a cool site thanks... Here's a small Parthian you might appreciate?.. ID help was from @Kamnaskires as it was completely missattributed (Thanks Bob).. Vardanes I (40-47 AD) AE Chalkous 11mm/1.8gr.. Obverse- Bust left with short beard, wearing diadem and spiral torque; hair in three distinct waves with earring visible; diadem pendants shown as three lines; circular border of pellets. Reverse- Monogram ΜΤΘ; legend as dashes Mint- Mithradatkart-Near modern Askabad in Turkmenistan. Ref- Sellwood 64 type variant (ΜΤΘ monogram) This is quite a rare type.

Above the band is written Al-sultan al-a'zam (Supreme Sultan) Below the band is written the Sultans name 'Zain-ul-abdin'. Reverse..Apparently written the place it was struck (Kashmir) The month and the year.. More Islamic...

  13. @seth77...What an interesting coin...Could you recommend a good starters reference book on Medieval Spanish coins?...The only book I have is this .... Thanks @Severus Alexander.... I do like the renditions of the castle/lion combo but as of yet have not added any to my collection...Your example is very appealing, nice detail and colouring. I've tended to go with the portrait/reverse coins probably a knock off from years of Roman coin collecting....Here's a long cross version..   15. Some lovely examples have been shown, really interesting areas too! Here's a metal detector find that I think could be around the medieval era but I've yet to find anything with a similar design...A bronze earring with some sort of red cut stone in the bottom section and alas the top sections stone is missing....I still find it a cool piece... Any ideas appreciated...Thanks Paul.

Obverse...Draped bust of Artemis right, hair in sphendone, quiver and bow over shoulder. Reverse...Single-handled oenoechoe (Kyme's cup) with KY above (Kyme), flanked either side by laurel branches. Magistrates name left to right across central field Z-Ω / I-Λ / O-Σ..Zoilos. SNG München 507-9; SNG Copenhagen 108; SNG von Aulock 1642.
