Hello everyone! Thought I'd share this new crab I picked up from the island of Kos. I probably paid too much for it, but I just loved the centering and the detail, so I made it the top priority for the auction.

The Magas issues above have been flooding the market recently, though I bought mine before the deluge (and thus probably paid more). It seems everyone's getting crabs now.

Let's see your crabs!

That's a fabulous new crab, @kirispupis!  I'd like to get one from Kos.  I'm also relieved to discover (I assume?) that you didn't catch something nasty. 😄

My two favourite crab coins are 1) a tiny Punic war issue of the Brettii, with Amphitrite displaying a very severe case of crabs on the obverse:

Bruttium. The Brettii circa 216-214 BC. Quartuncia Æ 14mm., 2.85g. Head of sea-goddess (Amphitrite?) left, wearing crab headdress, snake (?) behind / Crab. HN Italy 1944.

And this wonderful Akragas coin, a gift from my best coin buddies. Herakles cancelling the crab represents my ongoing fight against cancer:

SICILY. Akragas. Circa 415-406 B.C. Æ tetras. 10.91 gm. 23 mm. Eagle standing right, wings spread, tearing at hare below / Crab; three pellets (mark of value) and crayfish left below; c/m: head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin, within incuse circle. Westermark, Coinage, Period III, Series C, 838 (O20/R34). CNS 54. HGC 2, 140.

The good news is that there is a shampoo that you can use along with a little comb so that you won't have to shave off your pub...ahhh, yes. Crabs on coins. Of course I knew that's what you meant😉

Great stuff Kirispupis! I especially love your Magas! Though all are great.

The first coin I bought at a coin show:

This little guy scuttled right off the serrated flan so you can inky see his pinchers behind her head:

Very cool! The only crab I have is the same Brettii one you have, just in a poorer condition. 3326735_1664803060.jpg
