  1. Got myself a rare bronze Cappadocian which I've been hunting for a while, pretty happy with it. I lost all of my other targets so I decided to bid on some late Roman silver as I currently have none in my collection. I ended up with this. Not the prettiest but I like the history behind the coin, and the reverse is cool to me.

    I have crabs

Very cool! The only crab I have is the same Brettii one you have, just in a poorer condition.
  3. For the most part, I'm a generalist and just collect whatever interests me (currently, Roman Republican coins have been interesting me a lot) however, my main focus for collecting are coins from the Kingdom of Cappadocia. At first, I got an Ariobarzanes I drachm for cheap at a Savoca auction and I decided to do some research on who he was. After that, I read various works on Cappadocia including the writings of Simonetta and Mørkholm. Despite many people thinking that Cappadocian coins are rather boring, my interest was piqued and I decided to start trying to collect every ruler, and get some rare types (which are typically cheap and relatively unknown, another factor in why I collect them).
  4. Got this Ariobarzanes I recently. Features a cool reverse border, apparently the border was a commemoration of Ariobarzanes' restoration to the throne by Lucullus. This was like the fifth time he had to be put back on the throne so the lack of any other special issues in the years he was restored casts doubts on whether the border is related to the restoration. It's a type I have been looking for for a little while now, and while it isn't in the best condition, it's still a cool addition
  5. Latest thing I've ordered, drachm of Ariarathes V. All I need now to complete my Cappadocia set is Ariarathes I and II
  6. Only one I have is this one RIC VIII Alexandria 91. I believe
  7. I have a similar (in much worse condition) coin to you! Athena really does not want to be on this coin
  8. It seems to have picked this Ariobarzanes II! I bought this because I had become interested in Cappadocian coinage and wanted to complete my Ariobarzanid set.
  9. It's a low grade Antigonos I, but I love it. Easily my favourite dynasty (Second to the Ariobarzanid)
  10. Very interesting coin, thanks for posting! Also, it's great to see you've made it to this forum
  11. Claudius, AD 41-54. Roman provincial Æ 23.2 mm, 7.13 g, 12 h. Cilicia, Caesarea (formerly Mopsuestia), AD 50/1. Obv: ΤΙΒЄΡΙΟϹ ΚΛΑΥΔΙΟϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ; bare head of Claudius, right. Rev: ΚΑΙⳞΑΡΕΩΝ ΕΤΟΥⳞ Ε; veiled Tyche, seated right, on rocks and holding ears of corn; below, river god. Refs: RPC I 4086; SNG von Aulock 6348 (Caesarea in Cappadocia); SNG Copenhagen 177 (Caesarea in Cappadocia); SNG Schweiz II (Righetti) 1759 (Caesarea in Cappadocia); SNG Österreich (Caesarea in Cappadocia) 2759-60; RG 4744-45; BMC 21.31,4 (Anazarbus?). I think anything first century would count, nice coins!
  12. Very cool, I love the size differences of the busts
  13. I am a very big fan of Roman Provincials. Being able to get cool and interesting emperors for cheap has always sparked my interest in them. Augustus Tiberius Claudius Please post your Early Imperial Provincials to this thread 🙂 I'm interested to see what other people here have.
  14. My answer would be of this provincial Claudius from Aezanis in Phyrgia. After a quick search it seems to be from here in Turkey
