I asked DALL.E (https://openai.com/dall-e-2/)for a picture of a coin with

Marcus Aurelius and Faustina II

The result is not what I expected :classic_blink:

I did not give up and asked for a picture of a coin showing Cleopatra and Marc Anthony.

This is the result: :classic_ohmy:

DALL·E wasn't given many ancient images to train on.  It is surprising that it can generate ancient-looking art all.  At least it tried.

I have found the output more interesting when I ask for things that never existed.  I asked for "An Ancient Greek Lincoln cent".

It already looks better than the Sponsianus coin!

According to Dall.E, this is "the most interesting ancient coin in the world." Can anyone guess the attribution?

Next, I asked for the most expensive coin that ever existed, and here it is.

This one was for:

"A metal detectorist unearthing a large hoard of ancient Roman gold aurei coins"

I'm not entirely sure why he's still digging, given that there are already lots of very visible coins!

With a combo of ChatGPT and DALL.E no one will really need to think or be creative. Meanwhile, the AI could achieve sentience which might not be a good thing for mankind. Think of the malevolent HAL9000.

That said it is an interesting technology to be sure.....
