My unscientific system for reading auction Cats. With no sizes is via weight 8-10g low 20s diameter, 10-16g. Mid - to high , over 18g, 30mm plus diameter

I just double checked 1440 “Barelycorn or Eagle to right” . SNG. Copenhagen, has 729 and 727 for the issues.

I had the coin for some time to help train the eye in spotting tooling, now I’m able I hope to spot tooling. Of course I never read the auction description carefully it had mentioned the tooling.

Syracuse, AE, Time of Timoleon. HGC 2. 1440. When coin arrived I realized the obverse is heavily tooled, I realized why the coin was at a very reasonable price. 😭The coin has been passed on to another collector.

Syracuse, time of Hiketas, circa 287-278 BC. 9.7gm, 30mm. SNG ANS 803-7, HGC 1449. I really enjoy the patina on this coin. last year I done well on Sicilian Greek bronze but this year nothing so far any thing in reasonable condition I get blown away at auction need another David Freedman type collection to appear.
