The style of this particular hyperpyron peaked my interest for a very long time, but these coins were always difficult to get in good condition.  While the figures are somewhat flat (typical with this coin), it has an almost complete legend, which is extremely difficult to get.  The wait definitely paid off...

The copper version of that particular hyperpyron was scratched off the list twice a while ago 🙂. They don't come up for sale that often and thus are more scarce than the gold:

That's a super nice and rare hyperpyron!  Congratulations!

My only Byzantine hyperpyron with the Virgin Orans on the obverse is the far more common one of Andronicus and II Michael IX (1303-1320).  From Roma E-Sale 53, lot 1037.
