lordmarcovan Posted May 16 · Member Author Share Posted May 16 Hot weather is now upon us (91° yesterday, with humidity to match), so Grace is doing that thing again. Naturally she had to shake all that water off onto my leg. 7 2

Benefactor kirispupis Posted May 20 · Benefactor Benefactor Share Posted May 20 Most days I go to the park to photograph wildlife. Here are a few shots from this week. 13 1 2 6

Ladymarcovan was excited. She’d never seen them before. (I saw them once in Maine.) She said that checks one off her bucket list without even leaving home. This is her pic, from our front yard. She has a newer iPhone. (Mine would’ve just shot a black rectangle.) My friends in Western North Carolina captured some even more dramatic shots: I like that BMW in the corner, very neat! 😊 2

lordmarcovan Posted May 27 · Member Author Share Posted May 27 Was visiting in my Dad’s living room. Everyone was suddenly looking at me and laughing, for some reason. No, I’m not going to be marching in the Pride parade. The sun was shining through a glass prism on the window sash. 7 4
ewomack Posted May 27 · Supporter Share Posted May 27 I caught a peacock showing off at a farm in Kentucky recently. I had to snap the picture quickly and at a distance. An attempt to zoom in on the show... The root cause of the festivities was soon discovered: a competing male nearby (visible at top picture left) and a female hiding out in the barn. 14
Phil Anthos Posted May 28 · Member Share Posted May 28 (edited) My wife and I used to hunt waterfalls, photographing 300 of them on the West Coast. But yesterday while hiking with Repo (tough hike!) we came across the weirdest one I have ever seen... Obviously a man-made water control, but still an interesting sight. lordmarcovan Posted May 30 · Member Author Share Posted May 30 (edited) Another lazy Thursday afternoon. (Bean, Elvis & Lily). Don, my 86-year-old father-in-law (who’s been living with us since his house burned down on Thanksgiving) is outside, grubbing in the dirt around the old tree stump in the front yard, to prepare the spot for his tomato plants. It’s good to see him up and gardening again. That’s his thing. It’s a nice breezy day- warm, but not quite so hot as it’s been lately. Looks like Repo had no objections! :<} ...Sorry, but please remind me, was he named after the movie (as in, maybe, Repo Dog)? ...I'm seriously contemplating finding it on YouTube. (...Right, boxes of CDs and DVDs, but, Oops, no drive that still works.)
Phil Anthos Posted May 31 · Member Share Posted May 31 (edited) Repo Man is a favorite movie of mine, but no. He adopted me when he was 10 months old, and he had already been adopted and returned twice before, hence Repo. 🥰 ~ Peter Edited May 31 by Phil Anthos 6

JeandAcre Posted June 1 · Member Share Posted June 1 Brilliant complement to @ewomack's shot, @Qcumbor. ...Sorry, but it's impossible to refrain from posting something about Leeds Castle. The situation of the de facto keep, known as the 'Gloriette,' verges on the unique. https://guidelinestobritain.com/royal-london/history-of-leeds-castle/ 8
lordmarcovan Posted June 2 · Member Author Share Posted June 2 I’ll spare you the actual action and aftermath photos, but here… let me set the scene for you… It’s 5:00 AM, we’re in bed, and my wife suddenly screams. You see, there is this shelf above the headboard of our bed. Huckleberry the Cat (seen below) likes to hang out up there. It’s his spot. This morning Huck hung over the edge like some medieval gargoyle on a Gothic cathedral, and… puked. Directly into the face of my sleeping wife below. Ahh, the things we put up with, as “cat people”. *sigh* 4 1
lordmarcovan Posted June 7 · Member Author Share Posted June 7 (edited) Just had the annual overnight employees’ appreciation party for Sea Island Company. I work as a night auditor for one of their three local hotels, and I refer to the yearly event as “The Vampires’ Ball”, since it’s given for all us graveyard shift folks. This year we had it at The Cloister’s resort bowling alley. I won an espresso machine in one of the door prize drawings. (Will give it to my daughter.) The employee appreciation party at a five-star resort is, of course, impeccably catered. Those Philly cheesesteak sliders were awesome, as were the little chocolate mousse s’mores thingies. lordmarcovan Posted June 9 · Member Author Share Posted June 9 Couple this with humidity so thick it fogs up my glasses when I step outside. In fact, our outdoors are currently one giant sauna. 🥵 3
