Holy Cow! That really answers the question of whether coins of different eras circulated simultaneously. So I guess they did. One wonders if they were tariffed at the same value based on silver content which was only around 40% by the Severan time. Probably the emperors required full value exchange regardless of the issuer, otherwise we'd probably see clipping and other activities by the unscrupulous.

Most hoards in Britain have a real mixture of denarii, typically including a few of Antony's, until this time (the 220s for the older bag). The falling silver content stopped that.

Crazy to think this person owned an array of coins (32BC-270AD) that spans a period of time longer than the US has been a country.
