Amarmur Posted September 3, 2023 · Member Share Posted September 3, 2023 If it's a fake it looks not bad. The seller did not list the weight and diameter that is suspicious. Although I think it's cast.
Ryro Posted September 3, 2023 · Supporter Share Posted September 3, 2023 It looks like a pretty bad, soapy, cast, modern fake to me as well.
Deinomenid Posted September 3, 2023 · Supporter Share Posted September 3, 2023 As far as I know there were no Athens tets with owls spread wings, only dekadrachms (insanely expensive) or trihemiobols etc. And even if there were it looks fake too for the reasons Ryro says! 3
CPK Posted September 3, 2023 · Supporter Share Posted September 3, 2023 (edited) If that's an arm in the background, the coin must be pretty small. It looks like a small copy or replica of the famous Athens dekadrachm. The smaller trihemiobols of which @Deinomenid speaks used a slightly different reverse design, with two sprigs of olive on either side above the owl and the "A" in between.
