Amarmur Posted September 1, 2023 · Member Share Posted September 1, 2023 (edited) Were the workers at the mint drunk? It looks like Zeus sprouted a second head or is it supposed to look like this... What happened here? Lol Anyone have a clue on IDing it? It's around 20 mm btw Edited September 1, 2023 by Amarmur
Ryro Posted September 1, 2023 · Supporter Share Posted September 1, 2023 (edited) I see a second head sprouting offthe first! As well he has the horns of Ammon. Though I do see two eagles on the reverse. If you have size and weight it would make it much easier to assist. There is a cornucopia mint mark. I tried to see something similar on this website but couldn't really find anything. It is likely a later piece Ptolemaic Bronze Denomination Series (ptolemybronze.com)
Deinomenid Posted September 2, 2023 · Supporter Share Posted September 2, 2023 Have you looked at it against the Hieron II Ptolemaic Sicilian bronzes. They look very similar indeed but the weight you say of 3g is 10 times off. Just in case there were different denominations…. Eg these- not mine.
