A surprise to ease the loneliness

My Wife is visiting her Sister in Germany this week and ordered a coin from Marti Classical Numismatics to be delivered while she was away. A complete surprise to me when it arrived this morning,  as she explained.

Diocletian AD 284-305. Potin Tetradrachm (19.5mm, 7.38 g.)
Egypy, Alexandria mint, dated RY 6 (AD 290/1).
Obv. A K G OYA ΔIOKΛHTIANOC CEB, laureate, cuirassed bust right
Rev. Eirene looking left, holding branch and scepter, leaning on a lituus shaped column, SL (date) across field. No reverse legend.
Attractive brown patina.
Very rare leaning and SL instead of LS

Here's another of Alexandria but of tetrarchic style...note that DN (Dominus Noster, e.g. "Our Lord") is used rather than IMP (erator) in the legend.

Diocletian (A.D. 284-305)

AE Follis Weight: 6.90 grams Diameter: 23 mm

Mint: Follis struck at Alexandria (ALE Mintmark) between 308 and 310, after his abdication.

Obverse: DN DIOCLETIANO BAEATISS, laurel-wreathed bust right wearing mantle, holding olive branch and holding mappa in the other hand.

Reverse: PROVIDENTIA DEORVM, Providentia standing right, extending right hand to Quies, standing left, holding branch and sceptre.

Reference: Sear 12922, RIC VI Alexandria 80 corr.

Great coin, @expat.  Your wife is very thoughtful.  That "lituus-shaped column" is interesting - that is what it looks like.  I have one (with the more common placement of the date - I think mine has a lituus-column too, although mine is engraved sloppier than yours, so it is hard to tell - looks more like drapery on mine:

My Wife said she chose it because of the column. She couldn't find anything to assume it was anything other than lituus shaped,

She never fails to amaze me. She has next to no interest in ancient or medieval coinage, but manages to choose an emperor I didn't have and also with an interesting reverse.
