A complete surprise to me when it arrived this morning, as she explained. Diocletian AD 284-305. Potin Tetradrachm (19.5mm, 7.38 g.) Egypy, Alexandria mint, dated RY 6 (AD 290/1). Obv. A K G OYA ΔIOKΛHTIANOC CEB, laureate, cuirassed bust right Rev. Eirene looking left, holding branch and scepter, leaning on a lituus shaped column, SL (date) across field. No reverse legend. Diocletian (A.D. 284-305) AE Follis Weight: 6.90 grams Diameter: 23 mm Mint: Follis struck at Alexandria (ALE Mintmark) between 308 and 310, after his abdication. Obverse: DN DIOCLETIANO BAEATISS, laurel-wreathed bust right wearing mantle, holding olive branch and holding mappa in the other hand. That "lituus-shaped column" is interesting - that is what it looks like. I have one (with the more common placement of the date - I think mine has a lituus-column too, although mine is engraved sloppier than yours, so it is hard to tell - looks more like drapery on mine: Egypt Potin Tetradrachm Diocletian Year 6 (289/290 A.D.)
