Amarmur Posted December 26, 2022 · Member Share Posted December 26, 2022 How do you tell the difference between regal vs non-regal? I just bought this one off ebay. I'm not sure it's a contemporary counterfeit. (I'm hoping it is) F - British COLONIAL EVASION , Britain - 1/2 Penny - 1773 - Nice Copper Coin! | eBay
John Conduitt Posted December 26, 2022 · Supporter Share Posted December 26, 2022 (edited) The quality of the engraving and metal shows it’s counterfeit. Compare to an official issue. But 90% were fakes. The collectable coins are high grade or evasions (rather than outright fakes) with interesting designs. DLTcoins Posted December 26, 2022 · Member Share Posted December 26, 2022 Machin's Mills is a specific American "mint" that produced imitation halfpence. It's worth checking but don't hold your breath.

Amarmur Posted December 26, 2022 · Member Author Share Posted December 26, 2022 Modern fake? I thought it could only be either from the Royal mint or from US. Unless counterfeiters made it in like 2007
John Conduitt Posted December 26, 2022 · Supporter Share Posted December 26, 2022 Why do you think that?
Amarmur Posted December 26, 2022 · Member Author Share Posted December 26, 2022 I'm not sure. It doesn't look right. I just hope it was made in the US in that time period. I love pre federal coins. It would be cool to figure out where it was minted.
