Benefactor Phil Davis Posted October 28, 2022 · Benefactor Benefactor Share Posted October 28, 2022 The last time I did something like this it was pretty well received, so what the heck. I'll let the coins speak for themselves. They're pretty chatty. 29 2 11 3

The Antony- Augustus denarius is breathtaking 😮! Thanks! Note that it's not the way more common Crawford 517/2, struck by Antony's quaestor M. Barbatius Pollio. This was issued in the names of Antony and Octavian alone. It's nothing I would call "rare," but it is legitimately scarce and hard to find as nice as this. 2
zadie Posted October 28, 2022 · Member Share Posted October 28, 2022 Amazing set. The Lysian Brutus is probably my favourite, hard to pick though!
ambr0zie Posted October 28, 2022 · Member Share Posted October 28, 2022 Great! if I had to pick one, I would go for the Marc Antony & Augustus.

Benefactor DonnaML Posted October 28, 2022 · Benefactor Benefactor Share Posted October 28, 2022 All fantastic! I do like the prawn on the first one. Not something one sees every day on a Roman coin.

SteveJBrinkman Posted October 29, 2022 · Member Share Posted October 29, 2022 Aha! So it was you, Phil. Going into this Roma sale I thought the prawn denarius was mine at just about any reasonable cost but you braved it out longer than I could. Congratulations on a coin deserving of the finest collection (yours). Sorry I drove your price up a bit. In the sale, I did win this later anonymous denarius RRC 278/1 that I am pleased with, so my tears were short lived: 13

AncientJoe Posted November 6, 2022 · Member Share Posted November 6, 2022 That prawn on the reverse of your 156/1 is incredible. CoinArchives confirms how uncommon it is on denarii. Now I'm in the mood for seafood today...
