Al Kowsky Posted October 20, 2022 · Member Share Posted October 20, 2022 My only denarius of Geta is a fake made by the famous NYC forger Peter Rosa 😒, but I do have a couple of nice Tets of Geta, the one pictured below is my favorite ☺️. 6
panzerman Posted October 20, 2022 · Member Author Share Posted October 20, 2022 That Family had two diabolical members. Caracalla was rotten to the core. However/ Septimus Severus was a bad influence on Caracalla/ since he murdered his way to be Emperor. On the list of 12 the worst/ Septimus Severus ranks # 9/ Caracalla # 4. I was surprised Diocletian made the list😀 Caracalla looked better without the beard.....
wittwolff Posted October 20, 2022 · Member Share Posted October 20, 2022 If we can believe the historians both sons where not man of virtue... "Caracalla" just was the winner in a bloody family conflict that could have killed him if he had not acted. Was Septimius Severus evil? He was a competent military man bringing the harshness of an army general to the politics. Did he murder himself to power? Well I would say the murderers of Commodus and Pertinax did that job for him. Here my best examples of Septimius and Geta: Emperor Septimius Severus - Denarius - Rome mint Obv.: L SEPT SEV PART AVG IMP V Rev.: P M TR P III COS II P P Geta Caesar - Denarius - Rome mint Obv.: P SEPTIMIVS GETA CAES Rev.: PONTIF COS II
