  1. Here is a tiny Victory holding out wreath. πŸ™‚ Honorius. 395-423 AD. AV solidus. 20mm, 4.33 gm, 6h. Obv: D N HONORI-VS P F AVG, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Honorius right, seen from front. 2. Great work, @Roman Collector. Nice to see the coins comparison. I don't have coins with Spes. My closest "holding something" in the reverse design is this Venus holding Victory. πŸ™‚ Faustina Junior (Augusta, 147-175) Sestertius Obv: Draped bust r. Rev: Venus seated l., holding Victory and sceptre. 31mm, 23.36g, 6h RIC III 1686 (Aurelius).
  3. Mom and son Sunday night chat... πŸ™‚ Ionia. Smyrna. Nero with Agrippina Junior AD 54-68. Trihemiassarion Γ† 21 mm, 6,05 g RPC I 2478.
  4. I just asked my friend who reads Chinese. The silver medallion looks like a good-luck charm for "safe trips". It comes from a Taoism temple at "Jiedong" county in the southern part of China. I am unsure if it comes from a mainstream religious group or not. Hope this helps.
  5. Nice, @Paddy54. Did you write articles on certain types of coin errors (such as off-center, double strucks), or the minting process in general? I collect error coins (mostly state quarter errors) in addition to ancients. I am not a CONECA member though.
  6. I only have one Diva Faustina Junior. Looks like it belongs to the later time period, with its "PIA" on the obverse legend.
  7. Nice addition, @Ryro. There are a number of Syracuse bronze designs on my want list, such as man-headed bull and octopus. Hope to slowly pick them up one by one. Here are two I currently have. πŸ™‚ SICILY.SYRACUSE. Hiketas II 287-278 BC.AE. 7.26g, 24mm, 9h Obv: Head of Kore left, grain ear behind. Rev: Charioteer in biga right, star above. SNG Cop.802, SNG ANS 760. SICILY, Syracuse. Timoleon and the Third Democracy. 344-317 BC. Γ† Litra. 20mm, 5.69 g, 7h. Obv: Laureate head of Apollo left; Campanian helmet to right Rev: Pegasus flying left; monogram above. CNS 86 DS 46 R 11; HGC 2, 1488 Sigmund Collection. CNG e-Auction. Dec 2021.
  8. Forgot to refresh my computer before submitting... Here is a similar coin as @Curtis JJ. NEXT: Republican coin of "the other" to a famous historical figure (or "an other")(e.g., "the other Caesar," the other Brutus, the other Cassius, the other Pompey, the other....)
  9. This sestertius has IVNO as the reverse legend. πŸ™‚ Faustina Junior AE Sestertius. Rome Mint. 30mm, 20.90g. Obv: Draped bust right, with circlet. FAVSTINA AVGVSTA. Rev: Juno left, holding patera & scepter. Peacock at feet. IV[NO] RIC III 1645 Next: Faustina Junior sestertius.
  10. Here is a recent addition to my Faustina Junior coins. Still in the mail from UK (London Coins). Nothing very special about this one. Just like the light-color patina, and I don't have a sestertius version with this hairstyle (Beckmann Type 10 - late design). πŸ™‚ Faustina Junior (Augusta, 147-175). Γ† Sestertius (31mm, 23.36g, 6h). Obv: Draped bust r. Rev: Venus seated l., holding Victory and sceptre. RIC III 1686 (Aurelius).
  11. Nice addition, @expat. Here are my 2 Lucilla sestertius, and 2 denarii. πŸ™‚
  12. Here is a "coin pair" of Marcus Aurelius (on reverse design) and Faustina Junior, both at their younger ages. πŸ™‚
  13. I like Victoria sovereign. πŸ™‚.
  14. Here are two of my left-facing bust coins. πŸ™‚
  15. An interesting read, @Roman Collector. Thanks! I have a similar Hadrian Alexandrian tetradrachm as in the article. I like the theme of Roman and Egyptian serpents. Here are my other serpent-theme coins. πŸ™‚
  16. Another enjoyable read. Thanks, @Roman Collector. Great to be Friday and weekend again. πŸ˜‰ I think my two coins are of similar type 7.
  17. Nice addition, @seth77. Here is mine, with the eagle seemingly looking backwards. πŸ™‚
  18. Nice stater, @Ryro. I like the design, but I'm still on a lookout for a good example. Instead, I picked up this one with a Hercules in the reverse design at Naville. I think it may be a rare variety, since I don't see a lot of comparable examples, especially with a shield and spear. Pisidia, Selge Stater circa 350-325 BC. 26.00 mm., 10.34 g. Obv: Two wrestlers grappling, below, BA. Rev: Hercules standing r., holding club over head and lion's skin; in r. field, spear head and below, shield. SNG France1935.
  19. Wonderful coins selection and presentation. Very nice!! πŸ™‚
  20. Great video, @Leo. Thanks for sharing. Here is a silvered Follis I picked up last year. πŸ™‚ Helena, Augusta. Follis (Bronze, 19 mm, 3.24 g, 6 h). Thessalonica, Ξ“ = 3rd officina, 326-328 AD. Obv: FL HELENA AVGVSTA Draped bust of Helena to right, wearing stephane. Rev. SECVRITAS REI PVBLICE. Rev: SMTSΞ“ Securitas standing left, holding olive branch in her right hand and fold of drapery with her left. LRBC 823. RIC 159.
  21. Here is a "group photo" of Antoninus Pius and family. πŸ™‚
  22. A beautiful coin with very nice details. Congrats. πŸ™‚
  23. Nice elephant quadriga, Donna. I like coin's large size and chunky feeling. Looks like the elephants are working hard. Probably a very heavy chariot. πŸ™‚ Yes, those hippocamp bigas are hard to come by, and quite expensive. I recalled seeing a good quality example maybe 2-3 weeks ago in vcoins at over $2,000. It doesn't show in my search anymore... I guess it is sold. Well, such price range is out of my denarius budget anyway, so maybe I'll pursue a bronze example instead. However, even the bronze version may not come cheap these days. I saw a Phoenician hippocamp quadriga bronze at Numismatik Naumann this morning, but hammer price is quite high. As for the Ceres on a snake biga RR coin, I think there are a number of examples showing up these days. Unless you are really going after a high quality example, or the one variety that the snakes are not curled, I believe it won't take you too long to hammer one.
  24. Great RR additions, Donna. I like Roman coins with galleries, and your #74 with three-quarters perspective is such a beauty. Thanks for sharing. I'm adding this coin type onto my lookout list. πŸ˜‰ I'm slowly building up my biga team. Here are my lion, centaur, cupid and snake members. πŸ™‚
