  1. I don't have a legionary, but I have this Septimus Severus, VS: SEVERVS PIVS A VG RS: LIBERALI-TAS A VG VI 3,79g. 20mm
  2. But today I noticed that my star only had 7 points in stead of 8 so I looked at the 837-03. And what was really nice is that the coin used as an example seems te be a die match.
  3. I have been searching a while for a Gold Celtic Stater with a nice abstract Horse. Last week I finally found one that I fell in love with.😘 And is now one of my most favourite coins. Last week as a Celtic Newbie I tried to Identify the coin. The plain Reverse made me think at the Ambiani Staters used as War Money. But the coin has a bronze tone to. And the "Rose gold" made me think it could be British. So I searched Van Arsdell And thought I found it as being A Corieltauvian South Ferriby Gold Stater type 811-7 And I was even more exited that this type with almost plain Obverse seems pretty rare. So I documented it this coin found a nice spot in my collection.
  4. Very interesting, Thanks and thanks to the members here I know that I have a Seleucid Tetradrachme from Antiochus VII (138-129 BC) Postumous issue of the Kingdom of Cappadocia
  5. You really keep surprising me with your knowledge of these coins!!! I really need to buy that book. Too bad I have no idea how to read it. I even don't know where to look for the date. I think I had my part of Luck already with another coin being very rare. I am almost suire what it is but need some more time. So I can try to post that one next week. That coin was a gift from my wife, so it is my new favourite and changed my avatar to it. Although it really doesn't matter very much as if they are rare or common, they are not for resale and I just like them. But I still have another shot. The coin in question came came with 2 other coins wich looked identical to me. I will try to make a fast picture before I have to work 5 days again to make some money so that I can buy another coin next month. If I look correct, than all the vertical strokes are identicall on all.
  6. I got this coin as a gift what is always nice, so it will have a nice place into my collection! But I never saw anything like this and I have no idea where to search. my first guesses were India or East Celtic. But found nothing alike. So I hope someone here knows what it is or can give me a direction. Silver alloy? size is 8.5mm and weight is 0,4 gram Thanks I advance.
  7. I still couldn't find the left coin but my feeling tells me it must be Morocco of the South of Spain,But my search continues. It makes it extra interesting for me always be on the search for some coins. So I found myself another mystery coin 😃
  8. You are very good with these coins, thanks for the help. The right coin is indeed paler than normal. But not as pale as other dinars that I have seen that are almost as pale as electrum. The coin on the left is 3.8 gram. and between 24,0-25,3mm
  9. That is a very nice coin with a bronze tone! Mine is really SMALL. it is actually a litlle smaller than 5mm!😀
  10. Here is my smallest and first celtic coin I bought. it is for such a small coin so beautifull detailed that I had to add it into my collection. This coin started my love for Celtic coins wich is growing more and more! I think it is: Boier, type ‘Athena Alkis’ (~200–100 BCE) AV 1/24 stater, 0. 33 g, 5 mm Obverse: head of Athena with her hair loose Reverse: Athena Alkis standing with shield and lance to the left Ref: Paulsen 147/148
  11. Here are 4 coins I found the last 2 months, 2 Coupangs that I was able to determine. Left coin: Indonesia - Sultanate of Aceh - Ali bin Ala al-Din (1571-1579) - AV Coupang (¼ Mas) nd. (Leyten A7c, Wilkes4446) - Gold 0.56 gram. Right coin: Indonesia - Sultanate of Aceh – Iskander Muda (1607-1636) - AV Coupang (¼ Mas) nd. (Leyten A15c) - Obv: Sri Sultan Perkasa Alam / Rev: Djohan Berdaulat bin Ali - Gold 0,59 gram. And 2 gold Dinars that I really like and looks to have seen many hands. But after searching for MANY hours I haven't been able to find the and give up for now. For now I am looking in the area of Spain for the left coin and Iran for the right coin, but could be completely wrong.
  12. I like Dutch coins, I have some. Here a 2 of them that are very hard to upgrade. A 10 guilders of Willem III from 1887 on the left. On the right a Golden Ducat from Utrecht 1729, wich I think it is recovered from a shipwreck. Obverse: CONCO: RES PAR – CRES: TRA., knight facing right, standing between split date, sword leaning against right shoulder, holding bundle of arrows Reverse: MO: ORD / PROVIN. / FŒDER / BELG. AD / LEG: IMP., all within ornate square Some information of the ship: The wreck of the VOC ship ‘t Vliegend Hert, also known as ‘t Vliegend Hart, was a ship of the Dutch East India Company (VOC). It was built in 1729 for the VOC Chamber of Zeeland. It had a capacity for 850 tons of cargo and 256 crew members. On February 3 1735 the ship set sail from Rammekens to East India, under the command of Cornelis van der Horst. Along with its sister ship the Anna Catharina, which had sailed out at the same time, ’T Vliegend Hert hit a sandbank 18 km off the coast of Vlissingen and sunk. All those on board perished. The wreck of ‘t Vliegend Hert was discovered in September 1981. A money chest with 2000 gold ducats and 5000 silver reales were found among other things. One remarkable discovery were lead containers holding tobacco, anchovies and cheese.
  13. Very interesting thread. I have a Tetradrachme from Alexander III for a long while with a paper of the description. After reading, I am wondering if the paper is wrong and if it is an Tetradrachm of Kassander in the name and types of Alexander III Amphipolis 317-294 BC. Here is the coin
  14. That is also a way to go....ha ha. What is even more funny is that I don't buy any coins online. I don't have an Ebay account but my wife does for her Japanese antiques. Once in a while I look at ebay to see if there are any interesting coins. A few months ago I had to work and asked her to bid for a coin with an absolute maximum of 400 Euro. I was a little dissapointed when she said that the bidding went higher and I forgot about the coin. A week later I got a present from her....she never listens, but I don't mind.
