    Not exactly UNIQUE, but this Antioch mint, Double-Antoninianus (notice the XI instead of XXI on the exergue) of Emperor Tacitus I have, has been registered in a new catalogue soon to be published as the 3rd instance of its type in history 🙂

    I want to believe they had such intense economic activity in these regions and so many troops needed payment that they just needed to churn as many coins as possible and beauty came second place. Of course, it could also just be that the East had BAD die engravers. Look at that ray of sunshine from the Unknown 4th mint one. Is is absolutely awful, and I love it for that

    This is such an adorable artifact! The owner must have been a bit mad at the dog for ruining his brand new brick. But hey, we never get mad with our doggos. I have this Hadrian AS with some very curious gashes on Hadrian's face. By the patina formed over the shizeled areas, it seems like this was made in antiquity. What happened here? Someone angry at Hadrian? He was one of the 5 Good Emperors after all, so what gives?

And I shall do my best to spread the word of our lords and saviours, Antoninus Pius and Probus. Glad to be here! Hopefully the forum will be as respectful as this Concordia reverse 🙂

    To enrich my Antoninus Pius set, here is an Alexandrian Tetradrachm of him with pretty respectable silver content. It can also double as the world's oldest bottle opener.
