One of these two AE Asses. It's much easier to find nice Nero bronzes at reasonable prices than denarii.

Very nice! I meant bronzes are often overshadowed and seen as less valuable than denarii and silver coins in general.

  2. I saw this and I was awe struck on the level of detail this bronze Dupondius has. I bought it today for $50. I really didn't need another Nero but this totally was worth the price plus I enjoyed the Roma reverse. Post the nicest Nero in your collection. Denarii are nice but a quality bronze/brass is like gold

Very nice, I read somewhere that during the reign of Hadrian and Antoninus Pius the Roman Egypt coins peaked in artistry. Nero also famous for a great bunch of reverses.

  4. I really started enjoying Roman Egypt coins for their style and unique take on Ancient Egyptian culture. Here are a few I like Nilus, Isis headdress, depiction of Messalina (Not Egyptian themed just she is only depicted on provincials). Share your Roman egypt coins or recommend some ones that are "significant" in your opinion.

  5. Added a Judea Capta with Titus to the collection. It has Nike with a shield on the reverse. Any Judea Capta is a milestone for me. It weighs 7.22 grams and is from Caesarea Maritimia or "liberated" Jerusalem.

Very nice coin and well chosen! Those sorts of purchases are nearly always more satisfying than an impulse buy.

One "milestone" coin for me was a Judaea Capta coin. Not too hard right? Except that I wanted a) an Imperial issue, not a provincial; b) a portrait of Titus, not Vespasian; and c) a large-mid sized bronze denomination, not a denarius.

When I saw this one pop up for sale at a very decent price I did not hesitate. It's far from perfect but it fills all the boxes, and the main devices and inscriptions are preserved. I have never regretted the purchase.

I am very thankful for the Judea Capta Titus Denarius I bought from you. I consider it one of my favorites in my collection and a milestone for me. I'm Still looking for a bronze Judea Capta or one with Vespasian

Not fully convinced, but I think first coin is a pseudo autonomous from Tomis. But I don't like the fact that the ending of the portrait neck is different on the listed examples

2 - difficult. Obverse - radiate; reverse - head of Tyche indeed. But in front of her there is something else - a Victory/Nike?! The style made me think about Tarsos - but I couldn't find a match in this city. A close coin is from Antioch, Philip II. I am again not convinced 😐 bust is different and Tyche does not have anything in front, plus a ram above and I don't think it will help. I think it is identifiable but you would need to decipher the legends

    3 - Hadrian, Hypaepa https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=1657953

4 - Tiberius, Acmonea, with Artemis reverse https://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/coins/1/3169A

5 - a coin from the time of Gordian III, city - Aphrodisias, showing Demos on the obverse and an uncommon depiction of Aphrodite (but classic for this city)

Thank you for your help you're the best! 2. I think is Gordian III in Edessa

I would suggest a long bath in distilled water first. Acetone will only loosen/remove organic substances. After the distilled water see what acetone will achieve after no longer than 15 minutes. Do not rub, just rinse under a flow of distilled water, then allow to dry thoroughly or dip it briefly in acetone again, it will evaporate very quickly.

How long should I put in in distilled water?

  9. I found an 1804 half cent in a 6 for a dollar bin. Good news that's it's a fairly rare and valuable coin. Bad news is its covered with verdigris and junk. It is in pretty good shape besides the gunk attached to it. How can I safely clean this coin without damaging it? I never cleaned a coin before so it's a new thing to me.

  10. The 1st pic belongs to the last coin sorry. I think this is an anonymous roman provincial coin with an eagle holding a thunderbolt. 2nd one looks roman provincial as well (2 portraits I think Tyche is one of them), 3rd has Hercules and his club on the reverse I believe, 4th is roman provincial Augustus with Apollo with a bow? 5th looks like an anonymous (Trajan maybe) roman provincial with an altar sacrifice reverse.

    Too blurred.

Time and again, users try to turn their mobile phone into a camera with a macro lens - and get very close to the object. This does not work!

Move away from the object and zoom in! Use a stable surface - a book, for example - where you can place the mobile phone (so that nothing shakes when you zoom in). Then zoom in as much as you can. And increase the distance between the mobile phone and the object until the picture is sharp.

But don't try to get as close as possible to the object!

These are the photos the seller provided. Not me. Thank you for the  advice.
