" Last month new guidance on trans inclusive practice ( whatever that means ) in uk museums, galleries, archives and heritage sites, was published by the University of Leicester's research centre for Museums and Galleries " I think the statement above tells you all you need to know. Find a suitable historical figure, Put a modern ish label on it and demands from above fulfilled. They even managed to get folks on coin forums talking about it, despite its absurdity. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do and they did it without mentioning Hitler, not once 😉

This coin has a story to tell, i have identified 3 different Reverses on the coin which i assume could only have come from re cutting the die. It is currently a Tetricus SALVS AVGG Reverse, Snake, Altar, Patera, Anchor. There is also ghosting of the L arm holding a spear ( SALVS variety ) & the R arm of SPES holding Flowers ( plus other bits i don't fully understand ) All of this combined with a CLAVDIVS II Obverse which may have started life as an Official die.

This coin certainly isn't pretty, not quite sure if the engraver disliked Macrinus or Athena or both. You have Mr Potato head on the Obverse & Kevin wearing Athenas helmet/Aegis Breastplate on the Reverse. Seleucis ad Pieria - Gabala Macrinus - 27mm - 14.83g - BMC Galatia - p246.18 Rare ( nothing more common than a rare provincial )

Try not to stress too much @DonnaML, the hard part is done and there is nothing else to do but wait. As @Curtisimo said, the right people will see it and bid accordingly. Best of luck, i hope you do well. -

Great addition 👍 Here is mine from the same city. Obverse - Laureate, cuirassed bust of Macrinus right Reverse - Infant Zeus seated, surrounded by 3 Korybantes/Curetes clashing Swords on Shields to drown out the infants crying -
Calling @Furryfrog02 I gave him my example last year in a group lot. It wasn't the prettiest due to being double struck, hoping he still has it.

Popped into my local betting shop for my Saturday Football bet & as always, checked the horse cards to se if anything stood out name wise. It would have been rude not to when i saw the name 😃 put my loose change on it ( roughly $10 ) The Gods decided in my favour & it won 😲 Swooping late & fast to win on the nod !!!

Here is a coin that whilst not barbarous is still unofficial. The coin has an Obverse of Claudius ii & Reverse of Tetricus, both could pass as official and i am pretty convinced that the Obverse is indeed official. The Reverse is more confusing, there are at least 2 overstrikes OR the die has been re-cut more than once. Either way it is still an oddity having Claude paired with a Tetricus AVGG. (Note the 2nd G of AVGG & Flowers above R arm )

You have all seen my Glykon coin of Macrinus before. My Glykon only has the Halo though from Seth's list, the head looks snakelike & no tail details.
