Topcat7 Posted August 21, 2022 · Member Share Posted August 21, 2022 Not that long ago we were asked to come up with some ideas on how to improve this site. I may be a little late, but . . . . here goes. Appearing in a column on each page (on the right hand side) are several boxes Titled "Numis Forum News", and "Who's Online", and "Member Statistics. I would find it of great help if there was a box titled "Most Recent Posts" (not replies, but 'new' Posts). On the first page, (and subsequent pages), there are a lot of 'old' Posts with new comments on them and I have no problem with that being the case, but I don't want to wade through a lot of Posts that I have already decided are of little interest to me to find a 'recent' Post that I have not yet seen, which may be of interest. Featuring them in a 'box' in the column on the right hand side would be an excellent feature IMHO. What do you think?
ambr0zie Posted August 21, 2022 · Member Share Posted August 21, 2022 I would say it's a very good idea.

It's not exactly what you are looking for, but did you see the "Unread Content" button.
sand Posted August 21, 2022 · Member Share Posted August 21, 2022 (edited) Hello @Topcat7. Here's something I just noticed, which seems to do, what you want, to a certain extent. At the top of the list of threads, there is a "Sort By" drop down list. If you select "Start Date", then it will show the most recently started threads first. John Conduitt Posted August 21, 2022 · Supporter Share Posted August 21, 2022 (edited) A thought similar to this is the forum selection list. If I’m interested in 6 forums, I can select the 6. But if for a moment I want to see all the content under one of them e.g. Byzantine, I have to untick all the others. Then when I’m finished, I tick all 6 again. Is there a way to ‘select all’ or ‘unselect all’? Edited August 21, 2022 by John Conduitt
Ocatarinetabellatchitchix Posted August 21, 2022 · Member Share Posted August 21, 2022 Just an idea I had: This site seems to be growing little by little very well and will become difficult for a single person to manage. Eventually trolls will appear, spams will end up here as well as porn posts. No administrator can be present 24/7, so here is my suggestion to Luke: surround yourself with a good team of moderators, serious members, who have good judgment and great availability. With an increase in members and traffic, the forum will remain well supervised with helpers to keep it under control. A warning however: some discussion sites have made excellent choices of moderators, for example Forvm, on the other hand others have given them too much power with the results that unfortunately we know very well... 5
Nerosmyfavorite68 Posted August 21, 2022 · Member Share Posted August 21, 2022 My only tiny gripe is that the emojis aren't very good. However, that's probably baked into the software. Otherwise, I'm pretty darn happy.

I thought they were ok 🤣 What do you think is missing? 🤷♂️ Or is it the design? 📐 1

Only goes 'half-way' as "Unread Content" includes answers to posts, and therefore doesn't filter out 'old' posts. A heading might be "NEW POSTS". However, if that's the worst problem the site has, we're doing well.
