Topcat7 Posted March 13 · Member Share Posted March 13 I believe that this coin is (may be) Celtic in origin, but I am unable to place it. Hopefully, someone may recognise something from it that will put me on the right track. The coin is bronze AE12mm., and weighs 1.88gm. Any assistance is greatly appreciated 1
John Conduitt Posted March 17 · Supporter Share Posted March 17 (edited) I don’t think it is Celtic, although it’s hard to rule it out. Is there a reason to think it is? I would guess it was from somewhere further east. Edited March 17 by John Conduitt
Gordon Grant Posted March 19 · Member Share Posted March 19 Not Celtic far East I think 🤔
Tejas Posted March 20 · Member Share Posted March 20 The coin is not Celtic in my view. I agree that is it from the Far East, perhaps Cambodia or there about.
lordmarcovan Posted May 16 · Member Share Posted May 16 (edited) It sort of resembles some of those Anglo-Saxon “porcupine” sceatta, but only marginally- and those were usually in silver. For all I know, those suggesting a more Eastern interpretation may be right. Edited May 16 by lordmarcovan
