Benefactor Simon Posted June 4, 2023 · Benefactor Author Benefactor Share Posted June 4, 2023 BTW, The DJ said this on Sirus today. 56 years ago today. Another clashing of worlds between rock legends took place on a fateful night at the Saville, on June 4th, 1967. Paul McCartney and George Harrison were in the audience as The Jimi Hendrix Experience headlined and played an electrifying set at the famous venue in London. I would have loved to see him play. 2
DLTcoins Posted June 5, 2023 · Member Share Posted June 5, 2023 When i see a castle (castile) and a lion (león), I think Castile and León (Spain). 3
Ursus Posted June 5, 2023 · Supporter Share Posted June 5, 2023 Something along these lines: Spanish Monarchy, under Philip II, AE 4 maravedis, 1584–1585 AD, Burgos mint, moneyer: Juan De Morales. Obv: [+DON·PHELIPPE·II· ]; castle; in fields, B–M and circle Rev: [+REI·DE·LAS·HESPAÑAS]; crowned lion l. 21mm, 4.07g. Ref: Calíco 2008, 781. Without the field marks, it is unfortunately near impossible to identify the mint and moneyer. The octolobe border on your coin might help to narraow it down at least a bit, though.
jtlart Posted June 5, 2023 · Member Share Posted June 5, 2023 The Cuenca mint mark star above chalice is to the left on the lion side.
John Conduitt Posted June 5, 2023 · Supporter Share Posted June 5, 2023 I think it’s 4 Maravedís not unlike this from Ferdinand & Isabella.
