Well, I didn't buy the very expensive Helena from London, even though it sold again at Roma for GBP1,300 a year and one day after they sold it for GBP2,200. Presumably, the Romanophile in whose collection it lost £900 of value was caught up in the recent troubles at Roma.

Instead, I went for one of the typically rough (and much cheaper) examples that appear surprisingly rarely. It means I now have all the emperors and empresses from the London mint (although not all the Augustus and Caesar versions, so there's still work to do).

Helena Follis, 324-325

Great to see some reverses we haven't had yet. Constantine I and Crispus represent nearly half the types struck at London.

Here's a similar Crispus.

Here's my similar type with a laureate Crispus holding a spear and shield (RIC 279):

Nice coin. The shield and spear types are great.

There are a lot of variations based on the lettering, spear and shield. I can't see many with this combination on ACSearch.

Can contribute a few from my collection not listed so far. Don't think I have any new major sub-types though. All these are stored in flips so not sure how good any photos taken would show up.

Oh and just want to say I'm very much looking forward to the new edition of Cloke & Toone's London Mint book coming out next year!

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, please post them if you would like. I've got a few more I should post. We're a long way from the Cloke and Toone level of detail but varieties are interesting to see if you have them.
